Yes, Oreno of France still has a uranium asset in Niger, but they were the only uranium company operating there. After all, France considered this part of Africa their sphere of influence.
Canada was similar to the USA - it shut down all its uranium mines because of environmental and market reasons (a lot of enriched uranium coming from Russia in the 2000s)
One large company stayed in business - Cameco.
There are Canadian mining companies, not in operation, sitting on uranium reserves that are the same, or bigger, than Cameco’s
There’s no shortage of the stuff - only the political will to approve, build and operate mines.
