Marjorie Taylor Greene calls on Johnson to resign after foreign aid bills pass: ‘If he doesn’t do so, he will be vacated’

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Sunday said House Speaker Mike Johnson “betrayed” Republican voters after the House approved new aid to Ukraine, threatening to call a vote for his ouster if he doesn’t resign.

“Mike Johnson’s speakership is over. He needs to do the right thing to resign and allow us to move forward in a controlled process. If he doesn’t do so, he will be vacated,” Greene said on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.”

After months of resisting putting a foreign aid bill on the House floor, Johnson joined with Democrats on Saturday to advance a $95 billion foreign aid package, which contains $61 billion for Ukraine and regional partners. The legislation – which passed with the support of 210 Democrats and 101 Republicans – now heads to the Senate, which is expected to give final approval this week.

Should Greene and her supporters make good on their threat to force a vote on ousting him as speaker, Johnson will almost certainly need to rely on Democrats to bail him out.

The Georgia hardliner is one of at least three Republicans who have said they will support a move to oust Johnson — whose majority is so slim he cannot afford to lose any Republicans on a party-line vote.

Of course. (In the ‘70s I had a job reviewing grammar for a correspondence college.)

I just can’t believe that’s so difficult for people to understand.

MTG is fighting an uphill battle and as much as I admire her for it, this close to an election I would rather get half a loaf than none at all. And now that the Dixiecrats are back home where they belong, the citizens need to once again expose them as liberals and vote them out and bring in true constitutional conservatives.

“Trump is coming back, there is no stopping MAGA.”

Wrong. He will lose in November for the same reasons he “lost” in 2020.

With 213 Democrats voting for him Johnson needs 5 Republicans to keep his job - and he probably has 200.

This is just absurd.

“said House Speaker Mike Johnson “betrayed” Republican voters”

Johnson is a joke, a bad joke, but he does not represent GOP voters except in his own district.

You have it completely backwards for God’s sake wake up. The guy just pushed through every Democrat wish list item imaginable and you’re calling her deep state? Good grief

After this farce of the past two years Jeffries will be Speaker in January anyway, why not now?

Agree.

Folks supporting Sneaker Johnson are either wobbly or complicit.

Not sure which.

“He’ll never get that stench off of him”

So what? Power is what matters, the GOP is not contending for power, which is why their removal as a national party is imminent.

Laws and orders, EOs, PEADs. Matters not now...

Can’t tell people anymore. They have to be shown.

Good luck to you thru WW3, collapse of the dollar, destruction of society as we know it.

Since Biden took office, over 10 million illegal aliens have crossed our border (many of them criminals, drug dealers, child traffickers, rapists— and many of the rest, the scum of the earth—we are not getting their doctors, scientists, teachers, engineers, etc).

That is clearly the number one issue now and for the election.

If Johnson cannot get every single Republican, and yes I mean ALL of them, to agree that closing the border immediately is the most important issue of our time,

then he is totally useless!

I would have put the “/s” for sarcasm, but I do feel as much as I might agree with MTG it’s a strategic blunder to vacate at this time. One vote majority and it will suck the oxygen away from Trump. Plus stupid statements like I made are commonplace on FR these days, so I had to fit in. LOL

Yes, Johnson never will get the stench off him, I agree. He really blew it.

The number one issue in this country is border security, period!

He should have forced the democrats hand—by insisting on a border security bill FIRST—and let all the democrats (and probably a few republicans) vote it down! LET THEM DO IT!

What a great way to get them all ON THE RECORD as not considering border security as the most important issue facing our country today—before the upcoming election!!!

Johnson totally blew a absolutely s fantastic opportunity. Very sad.

Boy, I can’t WAIT to read the reply of these ‘1/2 a loaf’ *victories* via the (R)N(C) that should delay the ouster of S. Johnson

CONS (all in such a short time):
FISA > 4th A.
$B for NOT the U.S. (even working WITH the (D) to pass)
New palace for FBI
‘Sharing’ power w/ (D)
Open checkbook for Biden (even greater spending than Pelosi was ever able to obtain)
Broke his OWN promises (72 period for EVERY bill)

You can fill in the PROS. Go.

Exactly what half loaf are you talking about? Geeez

He folded like a cheap suit on the most important issue facing our country today! He should be ashamed of himself, as he had a chance to blame democrats and Biden for placing our border security behind that of other nations.

Unbelievable.

No, MTG and her friends are idiots. We may as well start to understand we have one person capable of leading and the people he depends on are idiots and let him down time after time after time. M

MTG is giving away the house. Independents will agree with democrats that republicans can’t govern and history will record that Trumps greatest enemies were the ones who claimed to support him. Not out of corruption but out of utter stupidity.

I thought MTG was fierce and a fighter. Instead she’s just a dumb broad.

Seems to me that is the correct use of its. I think the point Catturd is making is the house is controlled by libs and RINOs and Johnson is just giving them what they want.
