A few details have been released about the attacker including his name - Joel Cauchi. He’s being described as being from Queensland and only moving to New South Wales recently, but no detail yet as to where, if anywhere, he came from before that.
No details on ethnicity or religion - Cauchi seems to be a Maltese derived surname, but that’s just from me looking it up on the internet.
