The subject of our “allies” has undergone quite a bit of revision in the days of the Global American Empire.
In WW II our allies were the UK, Australia, NZ, China, the Soviet Union, and Free French forces.
What defined this allyship was the shedding of blood and the expenditure of treasure alongside of or for the benefit of our soldiers, sailors, and Marines.
When the imperialists and neocons speak of our “allies” today, inevitably they mention Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. Those are all one-way alliances. We shed blood, or are prepared to do so, while they do nothing for us.
In Iraq twice, and in Afghanistan, you could count the Ukrainians, Israelis, and Taiwan Chinese who died alongside our men on the fingers of both hands - if it even was that many.
Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan are not our allies in the historical/traditional sense. They are military dependencies, whose purpose is to drag the United States into war so that these “allies” do not have to reconcile with larger and more powerful neighbors. In this way, they serve imperial interests (although the fantasy of war to the death with Russia or China, or at high cost with Iran, is actually not in our interest).
It’s absurd.
I don’t have the time to engage a Jew hater who believes the attack on the USS Liberty was deliberate. Even though his very own government investigated it and came to the conclusion it was NOT.
