White House: Biden’s Fighting Inflation with Student Loan Plan
Breitbart ^ | 04/12/2024 | IAN HANCHETT

Posted on 04/12/2024 6:09:31 AM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

On Thursday’s broadcast of Bloomberg’s “Balance of Power,” White House Council of Economic Advisers member Heather Boushey stated that President Joe Biden is fighting inflation and its impact by “lowering the cost of student debt for all of those borrowers” with the student loan plan he announced earlier in the week.

Boushey said, “[T]he President has been focused on using all the tools that he has at his disposal to make sure that he lowers costs for families. So, this is the first President to be negotiating with Big Pharma over prescription drug prices. That’s going to lower prices for seniors all across the country. Of course, he’s lowering the cost of student debt for all of those borrowers. He made a big announcement earlier this week, and it’s going to affect 30 million borrowers across the country. And he’s just really focused on all the other ways that we see prices increase. For example, all the work that we’ve done across the administration to get rid of junk fees, those hidden fees that we all have to deal with. So, it’s adding up these, the President is doing his part to really address the fact that it’s been hard on families to have these high prices, and to do what he can to lower them.”

Fight inflation with policies that are grossly inflationary? Not a good idea.

You give student borrowers $150 billion to spend on not paying off their loans ( the debt then passed on to taxpayers who paid their debts or never ran them up)

The newly “ relieved” by loan forgiveness….buy stuff.
Voila, inflation.

I’ll help....Please Brandon...pay off my mortgage

Biden gang is buying votes, and knows that we won't vote for him. I have 2 university degrees but repaid my student loans. Only the brainwashed deserve loan forgiveness.

It is illegal, unconstitutional and morally wrong. No one will do a thing about it.

Using taxpayer money to pay bills or buy votes doesn’t lower any prices. It just pays their bills and actually increases prices. But never mind reality.

It is illegal, unconstitutional and morally wrong.

What did you mean by saying that?

Joe Biden is just like Andrew Jackson.

For most Presidents, checks and balances usually help to keep them constrained.

Which was not the case with Andrew Jackson. And our checks and balances are failing when it comes to Joe Biden.

They need to end the Federal government’s involvement in the student loan business, other than to make sure lenders aren’t taking advantage of students.

If there’s any talk at all about the government “bailing out” former-students of their loan obligation, it needs to be offered right along with legislation that ends any government involvement as loan guarantor.

Otherwise we’ll be right back here at this same place next decade!

My youngest son went one year to college on a baseball scholarship but still had to borrow $5K to go. He made B’s and C’s and completed the year and hated everything about college and quit and went to work.

At some point in the process I had used one of my burner emails for his contact and I check it once a month and found an email from the US government he was behind on payments so I clicked to find out what was going on.

We hadn’t received any letters notifying us of the payment process: who to pay-we had no clue who had the loan, how much, when it was due etc... Apparently, he had to find out these things on his own and I found he was two months behind because they simply hadn’t notified him period. Long story short he paid the over payments and I set him up to pay monthly payments automatically, $50 a month. He borrowed it and he can pay it easily, but the US government and loan holders are the equivalent of dumb and dumber when it comes to communications with student loan holders and people paying their student loans and not paying-when the loan holder uses ESP as its form of communications loans don’t get paid.

When I graduated I received a letter showing the amount borrowed and the amount due each month and where to send it and received a statement each month until paid in full, same with grad school loans.

One further note, if you had a student loan and paid it in full you will received a letter from the loan holder stating it it paid in full-put that letter in a fire box or safety deposit box its the only thing showing you paid the loan off and these companies have come back on people years down the road demanding they pay for loans they have already long since paid off.

Just another reason to buy votes, reward irresponsible behavior, and continue to subsidize outrageous college costs!

This will INCREASE college costs and Bidenflation! Thank you, Joe. /s

If you create a bunch of money to hand out, that makes inflation worse.

having one kid that paid off her student loans and one kid...middle aged...that hasn't...I know it isn't fair but if we're going to give free college to illegals we can forgive college loans for many .....

money is meaningless anyway....let them print all the money and get people out of debt slavery and then lets start over with a gold backed system....
