My daughter was able to interpret the words of a woman speaking in tongues. Her words were in Ancient Egyptian. Her words said “Behold the Lord”.
At the time, my dau. was in school studying ancient languages, so she was able to clearly understand this woman. My dau. was quite shaken by it.
I have heard of cases where people have spoken in tongues to others to find out later that it was their native tongue.
I think the best question I heard about this was one preacher, and I don’t recall who it was, said that the question isn’t or shouldn’t be whether the gift is for today. But it should be is what’s being practiced in many churches the legitimate gift of tongues and his opinion was that the answer is, sadly, no.
