Two weeks ago I had the sad duty to inform you that most, if not all, of the hostages taken by Hamas on Oct. 7 were probably dead. Now, Hamas has confirmed it.
"Today I received a detailed report on the talks in Cairo, we are constantly working to achieve our goals, first and foremost the release of all our hostages and achieving a complete victory over Hamas," Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu said on Monday.
He added, "This victory requires entry into Rafah and the elimination of the terrorist battalions there. It will happen — there is a date."
But it's too late.
"According to the first phase of the deal on which the negotiations are taking place," Barak Ravid reported on Monday, "Hamas is supposed to release 40 hostages alive, including women, soldiers, men over 50 and men under 50 who are in a serious medical condition."
"Israel made it clear that if Hamas agreed to commit to this point, Israel would agree to far-reaching compromises on the issue of the return of Palestinian residents to the northern Gaza Strip," but Hamas says that after six months of hellish captivity, 40 such hostages are no longer alive.

I'm not trying to Monday Morning Quarterback here, but perhaps it didn't need to be this way. A quicker war would have meant higher casualties but better odds of rescuing the hostages.

I respectfully disagree with that statement. I agree with the overall theme of the article that perhaps it would have been best for Israel to hit harder and faster with little care for the hostages, knowing that they were probably dead. But I disagree with the assumption that the Jew-hating left media needed a lot of time to remember that they hate Israel.
The only guesswork left now is how many Gazans/"Palestinians" have to die before they unconditionally surrender. Given the literally religious hatred they have for the Jews, my guess is that the casualties have to be a whole lot more.

Most of the hostages were probably women and I have little doubt that all of them were raped repeatedly before they died. And according to reports, even after they died (reports from the music festival attack).
Which is an eerie foreshadowing of the Zechariah 14 prophecy, regarding the culmination of 3-1/2 years from the Mark of the Beast to the actual Armageddon. Pay close attention to Zechariah 14:2 below.

History has shown to win a war, you need to either eliminate the enemy or eliminate enough of the enemy they give up and surrender.
Hamas is not going to surrender, Israel might has go ahead and annihilate them or at the very least make sure they are no longer to pose a threat to them from Gaza, anything less and it ensures they will come back to fight another day.

The hostages had less to do with the IDFs pace of the war than minimizing Gaza civilian casualties.
Israel has effectively destroyed many of the buildings in Northern Gaza and areas of the South as well.
They have done so with careful house to house fighting when it would have been easier to just bomb the buildings into the ground from the gitgo
It’s amazing how few IDF soldiers have been lost and how few Gaza civilians have been killed so far.
Over half the IDF casualties in the war happened on Oct 7 and only less than 300 since then in Gaza

Late in the day on October 7th, 2023, I pointed out to my wife that on average, the world is anti-semitic, and would quickly turn on Israel.

No, it is never to late. The extermination of Hamas will continue as long as is necessary. The goal of the war is not to achieve return of “the hostages”, but rather to insure that there is no Hamas to take more hostages next year or ever again.
Within the last few days, a major Hamas leader was killed, neutralized is the cleansed term. I have come to believe that he was the last surviving major Hamas leader within Gaza that is alive and functioning.
The search for Sinwar Yahya is apparently over. The IDF has good intelligence that Sinwar is either dead or escaped. We do not know which.
The world is mistaken if it believes there will be a return to Palestinian normality. Palestine that was is not and never will be again.
