The only sign one can say for certain is that it is a reminder of the reality that no one knows what can happen from day to day and you don’t know what day will be your last...that reality is always a call for repetence before it is took late.

And MTG may be sincere in her call for repentance, but given she can’t control herself in public and hurls vulgar insults and f-bombs at people she damages and destroys the credibility of these things being said by her...has she repented for that behavior, as well as other behavior in her personal life that is publicly known? She should lead by example.

Correct.

But eclipses are something that have been known ever since they learned about the path of the moon - the time and location of this eclipse was known decades ago.

It is always a time for repentance - not just at a time awaiting an occurrence people knew would occur long before our lifetimes.

...The eclipse is a known event...

It is even worst than that. The eclipse is nothing more than the earth passing through the shadow of the moon. Now this may come as a news flash, but the moon has been casting a shadow every second of every minute of every year since God first said "Let there be light". Billions of years.

Usually this shadow falls on empty space and from a great enough distance is filed in by diffraction of light. If you look up into the night sky part of the moon is usually in the shadow of the sunlit part of the moon.

The earth intersecting this shadow has about the same significance as my dog sitting in my shadow on a hot day. Probably less, since my dog is smart enough to do it deliberately.

What nuttery?

There is nothing profoundly supernatural about a solar eclipse. They can be calculated decades, even CENTURIES in advance. The science behind eclipse prognostication was already well developed enough that Christopher Columbus told the natives holding he and his men captive that a lunar eclipse was about to occur. The Arawaks were impressed (terrified is the better way to put it) when it happened and let Columbus and his crew go.

Green is implying that an eclipse is a divine omen. Maybe if one happened spontaneously, but then you're going to get all kinds of gravimetric stresses and horrific tidal effects upon the planet.

There is an average of two or three eclipses each year. They are an awesome visual spectacle, but also rather mundane so far as mathematics is concerned.

As said earlier, Green is doing nothing good when she talks like this.

Perhaps it was a tongue-in-cheek comment and they published it to turn folks against her - and you drank their Kool-Aid...

I’ve given exactly zero and get as much junk mail.

Interesting. Do you also get multiple almost daily text messages and phone calls soliciting political donations? I do. It all started for me with my donations through winred.

Plenty of reasons to repent. Solar eclipses (which are predictable) and earthquakes (which happen all the time) ain’t it.

She’s a bonehead.

I never give Winred my phone number. When I had to get a new phone because the old one could no longer be charged I went with an new number as well. Almost no junk calls until some random call from India (I suspect). Two more since then.

Eclipses are clockwork events. Predictable for thousands of years in advance. Just like astrology.

I think you mean astronomy.

Totally agree with you. And the many conservatives bashing her shows how much trouble we are really in.

Astrological predictions can be made thousands of years in advance because the sun, moon, stars, planets, and constellations are also predictable astronomically. But Astrology pretends it has something to do with our social lives, when astronomy does not.

Agreed about the eclipse; however, an increase in earthquakes is a Biblical sign of the end of the age.

What’s considered an ‘increase’?

Many earthquakes happen every day; the Earth is always shifting and sliding around.

Let me guess: You’re one of those “X Republican has gone too far” and will immediately denounce her so the Left won’t call you a mean-old right-wing extremist, right?

I think MTG is a nut, and I haven't worried about the left denouncing me since I was a senior in HS.

I attended the same HS as Rachel Maddow, an indoctrination center for woke liberals. 52 years ago, I was awarded an Army ROTC scholarship. Within days, I was a pariah on campus, a sell out, a baby killer, etc.

Only one teacher publicly supported me: my calculus teacher who was thrilled that I was matriculating at Gonzaga University.

MTG and her cronies are flat out nuts, they are holding back the progress of the Republicans. The tell with her is she was big into Cross Fit...lol.

When the time comes that there are no more earthquakes or volcanic eruptions for that matter, that will be a sign of the end of the world (as we know it, and whether you feel fine about it, will be up to you).

Why?

Because this would indicate that the mantle has cooled to such an extent that this planetwide conveyor belt has grinded to a halt.

Perhaps just before it does, Earth’s liquid core will have cooled enough to end convection, causing the planet’s protective magnetic field to fail. The sun’s stream of energetic particles will strip away our atmosphere, and its expansion will boil away the oceans.

Has there really been a significant increase in seismic activity, though? The planet has always experienced earthquakes. We're just a lot better at detecting them than we had been, is all.

I imagine that the frequency and severity of earthquakes will intensify DRASTICALLY in the lead up to the end of the world. But we're not quite there yet.

Yes; all that rockin’ and rollin’ and explodin’ is the inner Life of Earth; and he doesn’t know or care that people might be in the way.

This happened after the NY Gov lit up Manhattan in Pride colors on Easter. The White House also had lighting on Monday.
