Unless Zimbabwe is going to have an open exchange window where their currency can be openly traded in for gold bullion, then it isn’t going to be a gold backed currency.

BRICS is committed to a common currency.(to kill the US Dollar as the reserve currency.)
That would take care of Zimbabwe’s currency need.
