In 1973 the era of classifications of types of homosexuality as categories of mental illness ended. By a small margin the convention ruled that the new edition of DSM would no longer classify it as mental illness.
That does NOT mean it isn’t mental illness. Just that psychologists and psychiatrists can’t say so.
