I had a similar situation, but I announced early on that I WILL NOT discuss politics or religion. They tried a few times but I always invoked the “NPNR” rule and it kept the family civil. I just let them think what they wanted to think. You are never going to change their minds.

thing.....she’s damned if she does and damned if she doesnt.
Not a word on how great she is “so let’s make her governor.”
Her gloating does not help her political ambitions.
