Oil And Gas Companies Are Being Watched By a New Methane-Tracking Satellite
Gizmodo ^ | 3/8/2024 | Passant Rabie

The recently launched satellite will provide a global view of methane emanating hot spots, and make its data open to the public.

Earlier this week, a new satellite launched to track methane as it emanates from oil and gas fields across the world, hoping to expose major producers of the greenhouse pollutant and hold them accountable...

“Data from this satellite will help us to better measure methane emissions and target their sources, bringing more transparency to the problem, giving companies and investors the information they need to take action, and empowering the public to hold people accountable,” Michael Bloomberg, United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Climate Ambition and...

Natural gas bans are on the agenda. Another report I saw says Jeff Bezos helped launch this...the guy with a huge yacht.

Get ready to fight for propane and natural gas water heaters.

And the fake news media applauds.

I wonder how the herds of Buffalo and Cattle out West will appear on the satellite monitor....producing more methane than any oil and gas wells.

And we used to have millions of buffalo on the prairies, how did we ever survive as a species?

I laugh at these tools. A volcano and glacier in Iceland produce more methane than all of the gas and oil wells in the world combined.

“...hoping to expose major producers of the greenhouse pollutant and hold them accountable...”

Then these ‘activists’ and their journalists should be held accountable for the costs of higher energy and inflation. There’re 330 million victims awaiting satisfaction for these ongoing, unaddressed injuries.

Maybe I missed it, but I don’t see any indication that this is monitoring for actual violation of laws or regulations. It sounds like the satellite is just “judging people” so that they can receive a “tsk tsk” from the government. No more rule of law? Just “pressure applied” by bureaucrats who feel that you may not take their Green concerns seriously enough?

The Inflation Reduction Act includes a Methane tax The satellite monitors
2024”This year, the methane fee will be $900 per ton of methane emissions. The rate will rise to $1,200 per ton in 2025 and $1,500 per ton in 2026. When converted to CO2-equivalent terms, the tax rate will be $36 per ton in 2024, $48 per ton in 2025, and $60 per ton in 2026 and after.

The methane fee does not cover all methane emissions because it only applies to certain petroleum and natural gas industry operations. This limits the fee to just 29 percent of methane emissions, excluding major methane-producing activities like livestock agriculture.”

They are not satellites. They are either Satalloons or drones.

"The recently launched satellite will provide a global view of methane emanating hot spots, and make its data open to the public."

When it detects biden, how quickly will that information be released to the public.

I wonder how this satellite will know where to look for leaks through all the methane in the atmosphere now?

I smell a computer programming model for such a purpose.

New Report Exposes Massive Government Surveillance of Americans’ Financial Data
March 6, 2024
Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the House Judiciary Committee and its Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government released an interim staff report titled, “Financial Surveillance in the United States: How Federal Law Enforcement Commandeered Financial Institutions to Spy on Americans.”

The report reveals alarming evidence of federal law enforcement engaging in broad financial surveillance and prying into the private transactions of American consumers. This surveillance, not predicated on specific evidence of criminal conduct, targeted terms and transactions related to core political and religious expressions protected by the Constitution.

Federal law enforcement, including the Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and the FBI, facilitated multiple backchannel discussions with financial institutions to gather Americans’ private financial information.

These discussions involved some of the largest financial institutions in the United States, such as Barclays, U.S. Bank, Charles Schwab, HSBC, Bank of America, PayPal, and many others.

Tactics included keyword filtering of transactions, targeting terms like:

This surveillance extended beyond criminal suspicion, likely encompassing millions of Americans with conservative viewpoints or Second Amendment interests.
