Can you imagine FDR announcing in June 1944 that in addition to our artificial mulberry harbors on Normandy Beach we were going to build one in German territory?
Yes, I don’t recall that we did very much to help German civilians get the things they needed to live a comfortable life while the war was going on. In fact I pretty sure we spared no effort to deny them those things.
