A leather apron is placed over his back from the waist up to protect the kidneys from any errant strokes. A martial arts expert slaps the cane with full force against the prisoner's backside. By the second or third stork, flesh is broken and the prisoner is scarred for life. A medical expert is on standby to apply alcohol or other medicine to promote healing. In some cases, they will stop the caning or have it done in installments to prevent serious injury.
The prisoner has to squat to dump his mud for the next month or so because it is too painful to sit down.
