“The EU is an enemy of the US”

Spot on. The EU must die.

When was the last time that happened?

Carriers are immensely useful, until they aren’t. We haven’t hit the “they aren’t” yet.

Europe has enough money for cradle to grave welfare systems for multiple generations of refugees and immigrants in no-go zones.

Q: Why are the establishment Republicans and Democrats giving my taxpayer money to NATO?
A: Because Raytheon/Northrop?Lockheed lobbyists told them to

NATO is bodyguard for Globohomo.

As long as NATO remains, the woke, open-borders destruction of European culture will continue apace.

You’re a fool if you think our woke military could go into Ukraine and suffer any better a fate than Ukrainians have.

We aren’t leaving NATO (and we shouldn’t).

Trump will probably *threaten* to leave NATO as part of the negotiation to make Europe pay a reasonable amount for their defense. But we won’t actually leave; Europe will agree to Trump’s terms.

If Europe turns Muslim (and it’s on track to do that), that will change things, of course. But that’s not yet.

They have been feigning raising a joint standing army for years with no real intention of doing it. They know they can no longer sell the fact that we are fighting the old global monolithic threat Soviet Union to keep us there but just another one of their regional kleptocracies that are only a third of the population of Western Europe and with only an eighth of their GDP. We should go the way of France and no long committing to Article 5 mutual defense and just sit on their diplomatic committee and offer selling our advanced weaponry to them at retail. Beyond that, they are on their own. Let Germany lead them.

So a big powerful army for Germany, I can’t see any possible problem with that idea, can you?

Indival EU Nations have signed Bilateral Security Agreements with Ukraine to side step NATO involvement using their NATO troops.
Russia is now unveiling plans to deploy nuclear Capable missiles in Cuba, similar to those the US had planned in Ukraine. These missiles can be changed from defense interceptor to offensive warheads.
Russia has also stated if NATO soldiers under a Polish flag in Ukraine attack Russian Soil, they will target all of Poland. Macron is threatening to send regular French, not Foreign Legion, to Ukraine. Should French weapons in the hands of Ukraine or France military hit Russian Soil, France can be targeted.
Looks like the rules of engage are being defined towards EU soldiers under their national flags separate from NATO. The introduction of British drone operators and SAS have died in Russia under Mercerany uniform; should Britain openly send its soldiers independently from NATO, should British made weapons hit a Russian city then Russia reserves the right to hit Britain.
This war is going to spread on a conventional level to European cities rapidly if these countries send their troops.
France left NATO in 68. They would be a safe independent country able to send their military into Ukraine without triggering a NATO involvement.... Macron is probably running his mouth Pre-Russian presidential election and has no stomach fighting Russians in Ukraine, especially if French forces or French weapons in Ukrainian hands hir Russian Soil they have been warned Paris is no longer any safer than Mosciw.
The long term fallout is NATO supplied weapons hitting Russian territory has been going on the entire war. However, once a country such as France or England sends their troops under independent Bilateral Security Agreements those weapons even in Ukranian hands might trigger the war spreading to the country of manufacture. Thus Ukraine might not be able to use British drones against Russian oil fields, currenty staffed by British active military in mercenary uniforms.
Russia is basically telling the EU countries and the US the way NATO has operated is dangerous.
The idea of Russian missiles in Cuba at this point is probably only a matter of disclosure.
Biden Admin are amature thugs and Blinken hasn’t a clue.

No, they couldn’t. Being able to be defended for so many years at low cost, they grew the welfare state and their people now expect it. Add to that they are using the welfare state to bribe all those immigrants to keep them happy. Cut off the funds and they’ll have riots and destruction.

Well duh. When you refuse to provide for your own defense, you can’t defend yourself. Its not very tough to figure out.

In many communities, if residents do not pay their dues to the fire department, they will let their house burn down.

But to force NATO members, who do not pay their dues, to fend for themselves is horrific (in the words of hypocritical Democrats)

NATO is so far beyond the original bounds of its founding charter it isn’t funny. Bombed Libya and Syria....who knows what other non Nato-connected countrys. They want to fight in the med? Then get a new treaty. Call it MEATO. Mis-East Anything Treaty Organization ....that’s what it is operating as.

The article cites 30 NATO countries, but there are 31 (Finland), and soon to be 32 (Sweden), both of whom punch well above their weight, and spend more than the NATO (peacetime) commitment of 2% of GDP on defense.

Poland is well into a massive Defense build up, that might alone be able to defend against Russia in 2-5 years, at current rates of Polish growth and Russian attrition. When Poland saw the problem that 18 HIMARS in Ukraine presented for Russia, they contracted for 500, and 288 more of the South Korean Chun Moo equivalent. The Baltic Coast of Poland will be bristling with anti-ship missiles, to close off Kaliningrad at will, based on already awarded contracts.

Germany, France, the UK and Italy are the elephants in the room when it comes to European Defense spending however, and they do have a long history of dancing around and trying to offload their defense bills onto the USA. They habitually commit to more than they deliver, as we recently saw with their Artillery shell commitment to Ukraine - less than a third actually delivered.

They are the main players in Europe that need to step up to meet their Defense needs, with Russia on the war path, and in a wartime economy.
