The EVs are just so heavy, that they grind the rubber into the pavement at an amazing rate, shaving many thousands of miles off of tire life. Much harder rubber compounds might help, but a new material is probably needed, while not sacrificing ride quality.

Thanks for the info- I was sure I had seen a headline about it, but couldn’t recount any specifics because I hadn’t read the article.

It is,pretty amazing thougn what can be accomplished with different constructions of rubber and other materials. The tire industry has come a long way since the early. Days for sure.
