What are the consequences for violating the Geneva Convention?
1. A strongly worded letter?
2. A strong rebuke by the (communist) UN?
3. A citation like a traffic violaton?
4. Issued a date to appear, and released?
5. A note put in your permanent record? (whatever that is)
I don’t recall any country being bombed out of existence for such violations, so I’m curious.

Thats the problem with war crimes. You have to win in order to prosecute the losers.

But there are other means. At some point guilty parties may want to go elsewhere, say. In places like Russia this happens rather often, no honor among thieves, etc. Also this adds to the reparations tab.
