I think there probably were several violations of the Geneva convention here. One was holding POWs in a war zone. Another was not informing the opposite side (or a neutral party) of the time and means of a prisoner transfer.

Last words heard were, “Let’s Roll!” ?
No confirmation from any other source
Probably more Russians lies & propaganda ... Russia lies all the time
Given their lousy battlefield performance, it’s all they have left
BTW - 24th Month of Putin’s “Special Military Failure” (aka the “1-Week Conquest of Ukraine”)starts today!!
I read it was part of a prisoner exchange, but still being investigated.
Condolences to the flight crew.
Was it a Boeing airplane? Again?
How many pilots? Zero?
I’m skeptical about this story. POWs are generally not transported by aircraft, especially one also carrying critical military equipment. And, if this was shot down in the Belgorod region, that critical military equipment was either being removed FROM the war zone in Ukraine or the POWs were being returned TO the war zone in Ukraine. The article mentions “conflicting reports.”
IF there were POWs on board, protocol requires that information be provided to the proper parties.
This might just be Russian psy-ops. But we’ll see how this story develops.
Unconfirmed but:
At least a dozen ranking members of the Azov Brigade were on the Russian Il-76 Military Transport Aircraft shot down by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Belgorod region.
Do not be surprised if this isn’t the Zelensky regime removing possible opponents to the changes he is making in the Ukrainian military leadership.
