Vivek Ramaswamy urges Ron DeSantis to drop 2024 bid

The former candidate wants the Governor out of the race before New Hampshire votes on Tuesday.

Ron DeSantis says he’s not leaving the presidential race anytime soon, but a former opponent for the 2024 Republican nomination says he should do just that.

Former candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said DeSantis should withdraw before the next Primary in the race.

“I’ll give (DeSantis) immense credit if he does the right thing & drops out before the NH primary. Most of his votes will go to Donald Trump & we can end this primary to make sure that Nikki Haley & her neocon ilk never come anywhere near the White House. That’s a key reason why I exited,” Ramaswamy posted on X.

Ramaswamy, who finished a distant fourth place in Iowa, immediately endorsed the former President after his defeat.

It’s unclear how many votes would ultimately go to Trump if DeSantis withdrew from the race, especially in the Granite State where DeSantis hasn’t caught on as a candidate based on polling. But surveys have suggested DeSantis and Ramaswamy largely served to cannibalize Trump’s support in New Hampshire.

Is Vivek being a wing man for Nimarada?

Get DeSantis out of the running and she would gain.

Not really, most of DeSantis’ support would go to Trump.

I think it’s pretty clear Vivek is absolutely opposed to Haley. Did you see his speech with Trump last night?

Agreed. I don’t have a problem with Vivek myself and his support after Trump took a shot at him speaks volumes.

A lot of DeSantis supporters are anti-Trumpers though judging from the posters on here. She’s likely to pick up at least some DeSantis supporters.

It almost sounds like that. The Dot Indians stick together, I guess.

I hope Trump stays wary of him and watches his back. Trump knew he was a snake before he took him in.

I think DS supporters split 50/50 for Nimarata.

Half are TDS/RINOs and the other half are true conservatives who wanted a "Trump without the baggage" candidate. The latter will break for Trump if it's a choice between him or Nimarata.

It's a wash if DS drops out.

Great idea. Then, when Trump gets convicted, the GOP will throw up its hands and say, "Well, I guess we're stuck with Nikki."

I hope DeSantis stays in if only as a fall-back position should something happen to Trump. If the GOP ends up with Haley, I'll be voting for RFK, Jr.

It is Trump or Vermin Supreme for me. I will not vote for Jr.

RFK Jr is a LIBERAL, he may have one or two conservative views, but, overall he's a lib. I agree with everything else you said about DeSantis staying in the race as a fall back in case Trump ends up going to jail etc.

Nikki Haley is not a liberal — she’s a globalist Leftist. If we’re reduced to a choice of Biden / Nimrata / RFK, Jr., I’m opting for the guy who wouldn’t impose vaccine mandates and who actually appears to love this country even if he is an old-school liberal.

If there's no backup, we're going to end up having Nimrata Romney foisted on us by the GOPe. You can see it coming a mile away.

Haley's supporters are the Never-Trumpers. DeSantis' supporters are the Former-Trumpers. There's a difference.

Most of DeSantis' supporters will likely return to Trump after he clinches the GOP nomination, and absent a catastrophic health event, he certainly will.
