Republican senators who voted to acquit former President Trump during his second trial after the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol largely say they don’t regret their votes years later, as Trump looks like he’ll be the party’s standard-bearer again in 2024.

Because of the seven Republicans who voted to convict, ONLY THREE REMAIN AS US SENATORS:

Susan Collins and Bill Cassidy (both reelected in 2020, so nice and safe when they voted)

And Lisa Murkowski, who they changed the election rules for in Alaska and she got back in under ranked-choice voting.

Why should they? The whole premise of the story headline is that the did something wrong.

Good for them.The Democrat mayor of Baltimore encouraged residents to take to the streets to protest the Freddy Grey “injustice” which morphed into give them a little room to let off steam as they started to burn down buildings and destroyed cars. She was not charged with insurrection nor were most of the rioters prosecuted. Trump never even got to the give them a little room to burn down buildings and destroy cars part...nor, other than broken glass for some to enter the Capital, did the crowd for that matter. Yet, he has been impeached by Democrats, indicted multiple times by Democrat prosecutors, sued by Democrats civilly, and thrown off ballots by Democrat judges and politicians. Those in the crowd were given multiple year sentences for trespassing which was characterized as “insurrection” by DC Dem prosecutors and judges and a Dem media, thrown in jail without trial for months and years and many given multiple year sentences. Welcome to the Democrat Republic of Banana.

just to be clear, the 2nd impeachment shouldn't have been legal.(neither should have the first)

Article 1, Section 3, Clause 6

The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.

"Shall", not "May".

I dislike ranked voting. The RNC is starting to do that in their polling, so I put Trump in all three slots. Can you do something like that in Alaska for their messed up ballot system? Can you leave other slots blank and still have it count as a valid ballot? Murkowski is a waste of time.
