The Grinch stole our Christmas. Wife and I with came down hard with Covid a few days ago. First time. She couldn't get out of bed. I couldn't but did anyway or at 71 we would have frozen without wood and the animals would have died at our isolated Appalachian cabin. River will flood in a day or two, so our access will be cut. Have to finish butchering a deer tomorrow that was shot before the Grinch arrived. Go out to work for an hour, sweating buckets even at 30 degrees, back in to dry off, pass out for an hour, back out. Fun not. Sucks bad.

DH and I had pneumonia together one year, and if it weren’t for having to keep the animals fed, we’d have just curled up and died. So I guess the animals saved our lives in a way.

Do you have any lifeline through family or church in this emergency? Just in case?
