The man suspected of fatally shooting three people and wounding another at a Las Vegas university Wednesday was a professor who unsuccessfully sought a job at the school, a law enforcement official with direct knowledge of the investigation told The Associated Press.
The gunman was killed in a shootout with law enforcement, police said.
The suspect previously worked at East Carolina University in North Carolina, according to the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to release the information publicly.
Police didn’t immediately identify the gunman, the victims or a possible motive.

Maybe he was rejected for the job after having gone to six different interviews over a year and a half, traveling at his own expense.
Nothing excuses this murder of innocent people, but there must have been some specific catalyst to make his elder-applicant lose all control.

On October 1, 2017, a mass shooting occurred when 64-year-old Stephen Paddock opened fire on the crowd attending the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada from his 32nd-floor suites in the Mandalay Bay hotel. He fired more than 1,000 rounds, killing 60 people and wounding at least 413. The ensuing panic brought the total number of injured to approximately 867.
About an hour later, he was found dead in his room from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The motive for the shooting is officially undetermined.

They had to have seen the shooter the Daily Mail reported as a “ ‘man in his 60s’ went on 40 minute rampage across University of Nevada Las Vegas before being shot dead by cops”
