Iran is currently the "chair" of the UN Human Rights Council.

Perhaps you're thinking of (Muammar Gaddafi's) Libya, which was also "chair" of the UNHRC, having been appointed to that role in 2011. They were however "suspended" from that role in 2013, after the "Arab Spring."
