If an election were held today, who would win? Data projects huge Tory victory (Canada)

It has been clear for some time that the Trudeau Liberals have been struggling in the polls, but a new survey and analysis finds if an election were held today, the Grits would be headed to a stunning defeat.

Abacus Data crunched the numbers over several polls to make a seat projection. That projection shows the Liberals would lose more than half their seats and Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives would be heading to a solid majority if Canadians cast their ballots right now.

“You’ve got the Conservatives winning 204 seats — that’s a 77-seat gain for them. The Liberals are in second at 69, a drop of 87 seats, with the Bloc at 43, and the New Democrats at 27,” explained Abacus Data CEO David Coletto.

Poilievre is ascendant although an election isn't scheduled for a couple of years yet. 170 seats gets you a majority govt.

The economy should be enough to bring down Trudeau. The Liberals importing 500,000 migrants a year now.

I guess 1,500,000 will be there by the next election.

Or have Bill Gates, Soros, and Xi (incorporated) produce a new line of virus models custom fit for the next Canadian and American election.

It’s not a two party system like the US. Not too much talk of voter fraud in the years I’ve been here. Close votes get recount but that’s about it and Conservatives win those recounts at times. Seldom are elections litigated. Things might be changing though who knows.

If Trudeau isn’t doing well in the polls, the Canadians can expect to receive more government handouts while also having their liberties further abridged.

Isn’t Dominion Voting Machines a Canadian company?

A lot more paper, far fewer computers. Also, some residual "good government" types dominate outside of the big cities, even among the soft left. (I don't know about those NDP types)

Yep....things could be changing. For now I’d say those machines are too expensive for Canadian elections.

The problem is, Conservatives “win” and we get more of the same.

Currently the govt. is a minority. If all the opposition parties pulled the plug an election would be under way tomorrow. The liberals have a deal with the NDP to support them so if the deal holds they can stay in power for about two more years. If the NDP decides enough is enough from their further leftist point of view again it could be earlier.

Current projections have the remaining seats so divided that the worst the Conservatives would do is a very strong minority, which means not only being close to a majority, but being able to pass anything with merely the abstention of a significant part of one of the other parties. The Conservatives have been pretty steady for the past three weeks, with the Liberals dropping. To the extent that the Liberals loose ground to the BQ, the situation becomes that more hopeless for Trudeau.

So the ones that would have to leave the coalition are to the left of Trudeau’s party?
