Black women are three times more likely than any other women to die during or immediately after pregnancy. California lawmakers passed a law in 2019 requiring hospitals to train labor and delivery staff on unconscious bias in medicine.
More than two and a half years after a law took effect requiring maternity care staff to complete racism in medicine training, only 17% of hospitals were in compliance, according to an investigation published by the state Department of Justice Friday.

How many black men die during pregnancy?
Is there any event at all in the entire universe that black skin can’t cause?
Are there studies showing that anti-bias training reduces mortality and morbidity for black mothers?
Is there any kind of approach, treatment, clinic, that improves outcomes for black mothers?
Did they control for all other factors other than bias, which is why they’re stating it as fact that it’s bias?
Everything is racisssssss.
Not.
Shove it, media. Not only do we not believe you, but we’re rapidly approaching the stage where you will be afraid to come outside because of your shameless and unceasing lies. Shove it up your collective uneducated Obamaholes and get a job doing something within your abilities...check out Starbucks.
Because hypertension is endemic among blacks who live in urban America and a normal complication of pregnancy is hypertension - two plus two.
(That would be what I would put my money on if I had any money.)
Perhaps adding to it is that one pregnancy after another is the key to welfare success - regardless of the mom’s health - and that directives regarding oral contraceptives/birth control pills are often disregarded in the welfare community.
The new Black Death?
Or that they have far more children than white women do which has nothing to do with racism. To determine if there is “racism” they need to compare the death rate per baby delivery
The implication is that white doctors and nurses look at these black women and think “I’m not treating her, she’s black.” or “She’s black, therefore we’ll prioritize her care lower.”
It’s the narrative the media is pushing, but it is a lie.
Statistics alone do not imply lack of or substandard care at childbirth. There are a whole host of issues leading up to childbirth such as health of the mother, doing drugs, smoking, drinking, being overweight, seeing a specialist or doctor during the whole range of pregnancy, following doctors’ orders, etc., etc.
I’m tired of statistics used for political purposes.
This is 2023. not 1923.
No rational person in America would believe that hospitals routinely give lower quality care to blacks.
Especially to the point that there is such a wide disparity in outcomes.
If there is a disparity in the level of care in California it is more likely that whites get shorted, not blacks.
So - is the data accurate or is this just more made up research data intended to further inflame racial mistrust?
These are the same people who tell us there are absolutely no difference between races.
Yet they keep publishing stories that highlight differences between races.
OR all resources are being directed to illegals who pay NADA.
It is so easy to blame your problems on others.
Blacks as a group have a very high rate of obesity — along with the other ailments resulting from a very unhealthy highcarb diet. Unhealthy people tend to have worse outcomes from medical procedures. Good grief! Not everything can be attributed to “racism.”
I would add that, differences in maternal or infant mortality or morbidity, are caused by either genetics or bad lifestyle.
If prenatal care for them is bad, it is because they blow off going to the obstetrician during pregnancy.
If obesity and hypertension leading to medical complications are the problem, you can be sure it is because of them not attending to these problems.
If prematurity happens more, it is smoking or crack use or bad nutrition during pregnancy.
The amount of free medical care devoted to indigent mothers of all races is astounding.
The OB suites take all comers; the treatment for whites and nonwhites in them is identical and very formulaic.
The argument that there is some underlying racism in obstetrical care is specious. As is the argument that there is some underlying racism in medical care as a whole.
Maybe it’s b/c black mothers are in poorer health at the time of delivery (drugs, smoking, obesity, diabetes - all blamed on racism, of course) - or the black mother has other underlying health issues.
None of that matters - easier to blame racism so the entire racism industry can be fed.
Probably due to the much higher abortion rate among Blacks. Having a history of abortions dramatically increases maternal death rates.
“Coleman et al. (2012) review mortality rates in Denmark’s linked data base for the 25-year interval from 1962 to 1993, which included over 1 million women with complete reproductive outcomes including abortions, live births, and spontaneous miscarriages. They found that the risk of death was 6 times greater among women who had never been pregnant compared to women who delivered. There was increased risk of death was 45, 114, and 191 percent for 1, 2, and 3 abortions, respectively, compared to women who had ever given birth during the same time period (Coleman et al. 2012). Maternal death rates compared to abortions were reduced by 108 percent for 2 births and reduced by 63 percent for 3 or more births (Coleman et al. 2012). This significant study with linked, database data overturns previous assertions based on limited and incomplete data demonstrating increased death rates with abortion compared to live births. Further, it shows the dose-related effects of multiple abortions on increasing maternal death rates compared to giving birth.”
Very informative on the lies concerning maternal mortality: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6027002/
They are not dying or giving birth to high risk babies because of racism. They likely had little or no prenatal care. They very probably had terrible diets long before pregnancy. They may have STDs. They could have drug or alcohol problems. Age of the mother also plays a role. The same or similar rates of problems probably exist among other populations (Hi Miss Meth of Tennessee) with such demographics.
Rises in the Bell Curve.
