Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday announced that he is sending weapons, ammunition and drones to Israel, just a few days before the GOP presidential hopeful is set to speak at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual leadership meeting, which includes major donors.
The Republican candidate also announced two cargo planes with 85 pallets of donated supplies, as well as sanctions on Iran and "companies boycotting Israel," such as financial services firm Morningstar.
DeSantis is scheduled to speak at the RJC gathering in Las Vegas on Saturday.
The moves from the Florida governor come after he was previously accused by a legislative aide of having a weak response to antisemitism in the state, to which he responded by pointing to the numbers of people rescued from Israel and brought to Florida.
“What other governor has rescued people from Israel?” DeSantis asked. “I marshaled resources."
National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said on Thursday he was not aware of any coordination between the federal government and Florida on this matter.

He's fighting for his right to survive against a fascist government. How about you? You seem rather ungrateful for the things Trump did when he was in office. Fickle people. Turn on a dime.
The USA hasn’t won anything since WW2 is the polite way of putting it.
The accurate way of stating it is that the USA hasn’t won anything since the military was integrated.
That was when they started knowingly putting social agendas ahead of military capability.
And they have been doing it ever since with more and more radical measures.
Yep. We've been fighting proxy wars with Russia and China since the Korean War, and now Iran. They are never-ending wars, and waged in order to put lots of money in the pockets of the people who instigate, and perpetuate them.
I am thinking the same thing where did he get them?
There’s a disconnect between the article and what the DeSantis campaign actually said. Possibly a deliberate attempt to mislead on the part of Trump-aligned publications, which tend to traffic in slander as standard operating procedure, like Trump himself.
Two cargo planes with 85 pallets of donated supplies have also arrived in Israel.
Thanks to all who helped make this happen.]
Better than Joe daddy or his son has done.
>>”Old news. What has he done recently?”
He’s been out of office recently. Maybe you didn’t get the memo. When he WAS in office he did a lot more than appropriate state funds for a publicity stunt of questionable legality.
Florida tax dollars aren’t paying for weapons & ammo.
There are thousands of Americans/Floridians stranded in Israel.
It’s not a one and done deal.
Some media outlet says Desantis is “sending weapons” and that he announced he was sending weapons and then linked to a tweet of his where he doesn’t even mention weapons.
The only thing his office has said about weapons was that they were helping coordinate the private donors who were sending weapons (only ones I saw for sure were rifle parts) with the israeli embassy in Miami.
Considering Israel buys nearly all of its weaponry from the U.S., I wouldn’t be surprised if a manufacturer themselves were the ones donating. But I don’t know all the details. Just that there are many reasons weapons would be traveling from the u.s. to Israel.
See post #58.
You mean like lying to the Georgia Senate?
Oh wait. We’re not supposed to talk about that are?
What has Desantis done that is illegal?
Thank you for stating what should be obvious for anyone with a working brain.
Analytically speaking, I don’t see a path.
And of the Dems run someone like michelle obama, it’s lights out.
All it’s going to take is ANYONE who is measured, SEEMINGLY moderate (to the independents who dont know any better), young (compared to Biden & Trump) and the least bit charasmatic to build excitement in the Dem party.
Excitement motovates voters
They need his policies more of the others?
Which ones?
What a foolish post. No need to respond to gaslighting. Have a good day.
Talmudic?
Do you realize that Trump imposed sanctions on Iran and biden let them up (not enforcing) and that is what caused this mess?
So now your nasty vitriol towards jews pops up because Desantis is doing the same thing any conservative leader WITH GUTS would do?
What did he do that is improper user of Tax payer money?
2016: I’m gonna build the wall and make Mexico pay for it.
2023: I knew that wasn’t possible, any who thought I was gonna make mexico pay for the wall is a lunatic because there wasn’t any legal mechanism for that.
That kind of pandering?
All drones aren’t weapons.
I’m surprised more people don’t know this.
You accuse someone of breaking the law.
I asked what law did they break?
Instead of answering what should be an easy question, you refuse to answer and claim I’m gaslighting you as your excuse to answer.
That’s the funniest thing I’ve seen in awhile.
Dictionaries online are free in case you want to look up what gaslighting actually is.
Foolish x 2. I answered your post. I accused no one of breaking the law. You said if DeSantis sent weapons as was stated in the article it was fine.
I said you were displaying situational ethics because you were blankly approving illegal behavior (the Feds control weapons sent overseas not States) when it was to Israel by a politician you like. My implication is that you would not applaud a decision by another Governor to send weapons to Hamas or Isis.

your response:
Exactly.
I swear you can’t please some on our side either. They want a fighter who will get things done, but when they get things done, they’re accused of being political. Well duh! Isn’t he supposed to be representing those who elected him by done things that are popular amongst them?
That’s how he got re-elected with almost 70%.
