Wind takes down power line poof fire starts
/
Have you ever been to Maui ?
The fire starts didn’t happen under power lines, most of which are underground.
Btw, I live in Calif. The power line excuse for fires here in north Cal were political in nature and pure b.s. imho.
I say that as one who has been on 39 wildfires on hand crews, and as the son of a PG&E and Bonniville Power Administration employee and relative of linemen.
More first hand from Maui residents
Ship captain off Maui delivering food and goods to Lahaina was finding people out in the water who had to go into the water. She was plucking them out.
She said THE WATER WAS ON FIRE.

I take it not the whole ocean , but spots, as if diesel had been leaked , or put into, the water ?
The least info
out of upcountry ( maui)
This is tragic.
Fifty some years ago we were visiting Maui and stopped at a beach park near Lahaina.
We finally had to leave because of fierce winds coming down from the mountains.
It was a nice day in February with nothing going on except an eruption had just started at Kilauea on the Big Island.
I don’t think high winds on Maui are anything unusual, are they?
not all of them
