Much of historic Lahaina town believed destroyed as huge wildfire sends people fleeing into water

LAHAINA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Eyewitnesses are describing an apocalyptic scene in Lahaina town, where residents were forced to jump into the harbor waters to avoid fast-moving flames from a massive brush fire that’s destroyed much of the historic area and continues to burn.

Residents say an overwhelmed fire force — fighting flames all day amid powerful winds — could do little as flames ripped through historic Lahaina town, destroying dozens of homes and businesses in what onlookers believe is the worst natural disaster in Hawaii’s history since Hurricane Iniki.

Arson attacks on both may I and the big isle.

The winds from the odd hurricane were known to be coming and I bet the arsonists used that unique wind event to time their attacks.

Domestic terrorism imho

Email from my inbox with 1st hand report
First evacuations started across from us yesterday at 4a at Kula 200. 1200 acres at that time up to the back of Kula Lodge. All the firefighting stuff up there. Then fire down at Lahaina town. Lahaina is gone. Completely gone. People jumping into the ocean to escape the fire rescued by Coast Guard. Many many more evacuations upcountry and all the way back down to Kihei. Burning up there now. Evacuations there now. I think Pukalani is safe. Maybe Makawao. Hana is prob ok. Prob Haiku. Kahului is ok I think. Many fires set in Kula and upcountry and Lahaina. Lahaina town is gone. Lahaina harbor is gone. The churches and schools and houses gone. Still dark there. Bistro and Kula Losge don’t know. Our old house don’t know. Nothing under control. Prayers needed.

mneeded.media refuses to report arson,,, you can Google Hawaii arson and all you will get are dozens of individual arson court cases.

My sister lived on maui and for last 7 or 8 years lots of arson fires on maui,.,

They moved off the island a couple years ago.

helicopters

/\
. the hurrican took an unusual track,. Generated high winds that prevent air assets from fighting the fires.

They knew high winds were coming and the arsonists used it to time their attack.

This is domestic terrorism imho.

Oh...I didn’t know that. Like I said, that was back in the 1990’s.

Thank you.

I am heartbroken over this. I love that island.

The banyan tree is gone. So sad. We were there about 8 years ago. One of the most beautiful places on earth.

From your post 22:

"Arson attacks on both may I and the big isle.

What kind of evil scum bag burns down Hawaii?

And I have no doubt Arson is a possibility. Canada was burned with allegations of Arson made.

And California has had multiple fires when the Santa Ana winds blow, but many times there will also be reports of sightings of people, starting fires, which are never followed up on.

What scum would do these things?

Prayers for the people who have been hurt and lost their homes.🙏

The wind causing the fire is ridiculous.

But I suspect that there will be a sizable number of people who nod their heads and say, “Sure, makes sense.”

The wind is an extremely significant factor in the spread of the fires, but it couldn’t have, of itself, caused them. Electrical transmission lines, sparking in high winds, caused a hugh fire in California a few years ago. Human caused, whether intentional or stupid, is also common.

There may be more to this than local arsonists.

Think 1938 to 1945.

Japan created an island chain of defense in furtherance of the “ Asian co prosperity sphere”

This cut off major trade routes.

Now fast forward to the last decade with China basically copying that war plan with their artificial islands and recent acquisition of presence on Guadal canal , ect.

What was Japan’s next step in that war plan ?

An attack on the hawaian islands.

You do the math.
