Right; we used to call these hot temperatures “summer”. I haven’t even heard any of this is record-setting.

225 years ago there was a “mini-Ice Age”, which wreaked havoc on crops and helped spur the French Revolution. The Earth will do what the Earth will do; our impact is minimal. Places like LA see some effects in terms of smog/pollution, and it occurs elsewhere when contours of the Earth funnel winds in certain directions (that is why CA is so hell-bent on eliminating gasoline-powered cars); Milan and Bogota have similar issues (but with more diesels).

“I haven’t even heard any of this is record-setting.”

I was just thinking the same thing. This summer in Georgia it’s been a typical summer with temps in the low to mid 90’s. The humidity seems higher than normal, and in combination the two makes it feel miserable.

However, I don’t believe a single temperature record has been set. This “feels like” temp they now throw out is insidious - kids and the less aware hear it and internalize it as the actual temperature. Then, it becomes a “fact” in their minds.
