Two hours after pressing the launch button on Wednesday on Threads, Instagram’s new app for real-time, public conversations, Mark Zuckerberg posted that more than two million people had downloaded his latest creation.
That was just the beginning.
Another two hours later, five million people had downloaded Threads. By the time Mr. Zuckerberg, the chief executive of Meta, went to bed on Wednesday night, the number of downloads had soared to 10 million. When he woke on Thursday morning, the app had been downloaded more than 30 million times, he said.
In less than a day, Threads — which is aimed as a rival to Twitter — appears to have taken the crown as the most rapidly downloaded app ever. It easily outstripped ChatGPT, the chatbot, which was downloaded one million times within its first five days, according to OpenAI, ChatGPT’s maker. And Threads is on a pace to exceed 100 million users within two months, a feat achieved only by ChatGPT, according to the analytics firm Similarweb.
Some of Twitter’s most-followed users — such as Ellen DeGeneres, Bill Gates, Shakira and Oprah Winfrey — immediately joined Threads and began posting. The atmosphere was celebratory, with users writing welcome messages and expressing eagerness to read one another’s posts. At one point, the new app was so inundated with users that it appeared unstable.

Exactly.
Simultaneously Twitter ended allowing folks to read feeds—even from government entitities and officials—without establishing an account.
Hadn't until just a couple of days ago.
Ten million idiots. All your personal data is MINE, says the Zuck.
National Review, the day after “The Day After” was aired: “Why did they have to make all the survivors look like Sen. Alan Cranston?”
he great thing about Threads is that conservatives and those opposed to the Deep State and fake “science” can be censored on both facebook AND threads!
For rats who love censorship of their opposing views.
How very Marxist commie of them.
Some people will sign up for anything if it means being seen or heard.

Millions and millions of bots with fabricated IDs, to pad the view numbers and raise ad rates.
One AI could do it all, because the thing we under-appreciate about AI is its bandwidth and its tirelessness.
Zuckerberg fired up his Twitter competitor on Wednesday and a day later said 30 million users had signed up for the service. <- I bet another big a lie on his part.
Next he will say “Metaverse” is a success when he has lost $40 BILLION over 4 years!
Facebook was stolen by zuckerberg in college from those that created it and sold to investors saying he had millions of users when he did not, committing stock fraud. He says he has billions of users now. Not possible as people around the world are not plugged into facebook. He has cheated advertisers as well with his numbers, spied on everyone and subverted our election process.
His new “Threads” is starting out as a lie as well. zuckerberg is never honest about anything.
Yup, and how many of the millions are bots or other non-transparent automated “pumps” designed to inflate and hype the new app. If all the other bots are jumping on board, then I better join too.
Paleeeese! Just keep reminding yourself that literally everything is a hustle of some sort in these [end?] times. The techniques pioneered on Madison Ave in the 20th century are intubating the world if you take time to stop, pull back the curtains and inspect the underlying activities and messaging strategies. The objectives are always to get more eyeballs (or equivalent). It does not matter how or who, left, right, center, or trans. They laugh all the way to their software-defined digital money exchanges. Yes, even they are hustling each other and themselves.
Remember how when Musk took over Twitter he found all the bots.
Yep.
