‘Those behind the mutiny will pay’: Vladimir Putin’s 24 June 2023 statement in full
The Guardian ^ | 24 June 2023

...“I spoke to the commanders in all directions last night. I appeal also to those who were deceptively pulled into the criminal adventure, pushed towards a serious crime of an armed mutiny.

“Russia today is leading the most difficult war for its future, repelling the aggression of neo-Nazis and their handlers. Against us, the whole military, economical and information machines of the west are turned. We fight for the lives and security of our people. For our sovereignty and independence. The right to remain Russia, a state with 1,000 years of history

...What we’re facing is exactly internal betrayal. Extraordinary ambitions and personal interests led to treason

...Repeat: any internal mutiny is a deadly threat to our state, to us as a nation. It’s a strike against our nation, our people. And our actions to defend the fatherland from such a threat will be brutal. Anyone who consciously went on the path of betrayal, who prepared the armed mutiny, went on the path of blackmail and terrorist actions, will take an inevitable punishment. They will answer to the law and our people.

“The armed forces and other departments were properly instructed. Extra anti-terrorist measures are now being implemented in Moscow, Moscow region, and a number of other regions. Decisive actions will be taken to stabilise the situation in Rostov-on-Don.

“It remains difficult. The operation of civilian and military control departments is practically blocked

Holodomor

Why don’t the Ukrainian Socialists who implemented the Holodomir ever get credit? Blaming Russia is like Blaming the WEF for the LGBTQI indoctrination US Children.

China wants that territory. And if Russia descends into complete chaos, China might make the move to “protect” the ethnic Chinese in the region. It’s not at all likely. But it’s interesting to consider nonetheless.

China’s dream:

You support a lying grifter Zelensky? You likely support Biden funneling money into Ukraine as well. The hatred of Putin consumes so many on FreeRepublic. It’s our tax dollars being sent over there when we are $32T in debt. We have no business supporting Zelensky.

Yes, that maybe China’s dream, but they have their own problems.

The situation on the front lines hasn’t eased up yet. Of Russian troops are pulled out to defend the Kremlin THEN Ukraine has an opportunity

Unlikely.

It’s a long way to Moscow. General Distance is the brother of General Winter.

Unless he receives a lot of help from external sources (or is somehow able to seize the needed supplies of fuel, food, water, ammo, etc.), the Wagner effort will fall apart logistically.

Once that happens, it will be picked apart militarily.

My understanding is that the Wagner Group has a high percentage of paroled convicts in its ranks. So the Russian Army is unlikely to be too finicky about killing them. Killed outright now or taken prisoner and executed later, they are all dead men.

The difficult part will be keeping the Wagner force from dispersing once the situation goes sideways. So the Russians will probably try to catch the Wagner force in the open countryside away from population centers.

The wild card is the Russian Army.

Are there sufficient forces (reliable professional and conscript troops) available and deployable to carry out the needed actions?

Preghozin owed his position to his friendship with Putin. He does not have a military background.

I thought two particularly interesting points were made:

1. The Wagner group contract had ended. No more payments from Moscow. The troops presumably would either be absorbed into the Russian regular or alternative PMC’s?

2. This insurrection gives Putin the opportunity to declare full military mobilization.

So we are left with Progozhin who fears for his position as head of Wagner and takes this extreme action, which may end with his death or it is an elaborate charade to give Putin war powers.

Prigozhin will never succeed. Do you think our country would allow an uprising from a hired militia? His hours are numbered.
