Russian imperialism?! Good lord, Russia is barely outside its borders. They couldn’t be imperialist if they wanted to, at least for another generation. Frankly its been an era of American imperialism, with some emerging Chinese imperialism. The Pentagon’s accounting error is 10% of Russia’s yearly defense budget for crying out loud. I think the shores of the USA are still safe if a deal is made in Ukraine, and some young lives will be spared to boot.
As long as the Ukrainians don’t advance across the 38th Parallel nothing will happen.

The Russian invaders have laid siege to, ravaged, occupied, and/or absorbed a significant percentage of Ukrainian territory. The have repeatedly rocket-bombed its capital city.
Transferred to the U.S., it would be equivalent to a foreign power occupying most of New England.
You must have a very high standard for "imperialism!"
