A Jewish middle school teacher in Massachusetts has resigned after facing antisemitic harassment by a 12-year-old student – who allegedly made Nazi jokes and sent him a drawing of Adolf Hitler.
Morrison Robblee, 25, who taught social studies at Nessacus Regional Middle School in Dalton, told the Berkshire Eagle that the sixth-grader began making the comments after the teacher let his students know he is Jewish in February.
The child is now facing a misdemeanor charge of criminal harassment.
When Robblee tried to quiet his students one day, the boy began spewing homophobic slurs, so the teacher removed him from class, Insider reported.
School officials later held a “restorative circle,” in which the student, Robblee and an administrator reflected on the incident.
“The student didn’t actually say anything during the meeting,” Robblee told Insider. “That probably should have cued me that this was not going to end.”
In April, things took a turn for the worse after the teacher showed up in class wearing a yarmulke, a skullcap worn by observant Jews, for Passover – prompting the student to make hateful comments about it, according to the news outlet.
A few days after being sent to detention, Robblee said the boy gave him sketch of Hitler standing over a dead person labeled “Jew,” surrounded by swastikas and canisters labeled “gas.” [snip] Robblee said he filed a complaint with his union in May, citing an unsafe work environment, and told the Central Berkshire Regional School District in a letter that the boy would “further be at risk of a deeper radicalization of hate, one which will lead to violence,” the Eagle reported.
The district later placed Robblee on administrative leave, citing the student’s allegations that the teacher made a face at him in a hallway, according to The Eagle.

I had to “read” it 5x, to decipher what he was trying to say.
I tried, but some of the words just look like gibberish. I also don’t understand what the student wasn’t removed from school before it got this far.
I suspect that you teacher lives in more than one victim status cohort. The “homophobic slurs” may have some meaning not revealed in the story.
The kid may also be a member of an aggrieved minority. If he were a white student we would have learned that in the first sentence. His parents would also be part of the story for being white supremacists. What they don’t report tells you almost as much as what they do report.
There is something seriously wrong with the boy if at age 12 he writes like this.
If a 12-year-old saying something mean gets an authority figure to resign, then there is no more authority in schools.

Any teacher who cannot deal with smart-aleck kids doesn’t belong in a Jr. High classroom. If they think they can get to you, they will never stop.
The fact that the school has such a thing as a ‘restorative circle’ to deal with problem students tells me everything I need to know about the school’s administration.
Boy, that comment and photo brought back memories of the early 60’s....similar nuns habit as well. Bless that Sister, she tried to get me to switch from being left handed to right handed, but after two weeks, she capitulated. Only time. Ever.
The kid is obviously retarded or otherwise “intellectually impaired.” Was the snowflake teacher leading a special education class? Notice the dimwitted kid refers to the teacher’s “manbun.”

Yup- I spent 17 years in Catholic school; 8 grade school, 4 in high school, 5 in college.
Except for a few, i was terrified of the majority of nuns. Detested most of them while i was in school- yet later in life I appreciated everything they did and was grateful for them.
In this case, I consider a drawing of Hitler with a dead Jew and cans of gas a death threat.
Yep ... They commanded respect. They brooked no nonsense, but (in my experience) bore no grudges.
I found that one could screw up, take one's lumps (literal or figurative) like a man ... and next day, the whole incident was forgotten. Water under the bridge.

Frankly, I’m shocked that proof of this kid’s failed education in public school was leaked to the press. There’s a much bigger problem here that’s not being addressed. This kid has been passed through the school system for 7 or 8 years, but has not progressed in basic literacy or social skills beyond the 3rd grade. Why is that? More to the point - should we blame the kid or the adults in his life (including teachers) for his arrested development?
It sounds like another faked hate crime to me.
