Ted Kaczynski, the anarchist and so-called Unabomber who died in a federal prison medical facility on Saturday, transformed from boy genius to terrorist, going from a star mathematics student to a feared assailant who targeted academics, scientists and industrialized society as a whole.
Kaczynski entered Harvard University as a 16-year-old on a scholarship, after skipping the sixth and 11th grades. It was there that he was subjected to an experiment run by Harvard psychologist Henry A. Murray that was backed by the Central Intelligence Agency. Though he graduated with a mathematics degree, later completing a doctorate in the field before becoming a professor, questions remain over whether — or to what extent — he was affected by the experiment, which reportedly involved mock interrogations in which participants’ beliefs were harshly disparaged.
Murray’s study was widely reported to be part of a CIA program code-named Project MK-Ultra, inspired by the use of mind-control techniques on U.S. prisoners of war in Korea by the Soviet Union, China and North Korea. The program sought to understand how to control subjects’ minds, sometimes using substances such as LSD, according to a document the CIA made publicly available in 2018. (There has not been evidence to suggest LSD or similar substances were used at Harvard on Kaczynski.)
“The project attempted to produce a perfect truth drug for use in interrogating suspected Soviet spies during the Cold War,” the document says. “And generally to explore any other possibilities of mind control.”
CIA Director Richard Helms ordered the destruction of many files related to MK-Ultra in 1973. Nevertheless, Kaczynski disclosed some of his apparent involvement in the study in correspondence from prison with the professor Alston Chase, who later wrote a book about the Unabomber.

The question is why so many of the files were destroyed.
There’s always been a fine line between genius and insanity.
Looks like Harvard and the CIA helped Kaczynski cross that line.
And we wonder where mass murderers come from.
LSD was widely available on college campuses during the early 1970s. Why get a supply from the government when the neighborhood dope dealers could sell it to you for just a few dollars. The electric kool aid acid test book was sold at book stores. Maybe the kid was tripping in the wrong decade.
Our clandestine and intelligence services are the biggest threat to our freedoms. They need to be dismantled.
The project was illegal and violated the Nuremberg Code. Nearly all the participants either did not know they were in the program or were in it against their will. The CIA was even kidnapping civilians in foreign counties and entering them into the program.
Back then, the CIA wanted a “truth drug”. Now, that’s the last thing the CIA wants. It could be used against them bigly.

Or Kaczynski told a convenient lie based on coincidental timing of the testing and his attendance at university. Kaczynski lived a lie, chose to avoid society - maiming and killing targets. His entire life was a lie. MK-Ultra certainly didn’t teach him bomb making. Opting to fabricate a story of experimental involvement with a known CIA project on campus was an attempt to gain parole for what he thought was an unfair sentencing.
He should have been well hanged immediately after sentencing. The old Saddam Hussein method. Real quick like.
Because they were committing felonies. KGB, Nazis, CIA, MI6... all deeply into it. Mind control experimentation still goes on. Mass shooters. Drugs and hypnosis combined with ECT can turn most anyone into a human wreck.
The chronic homeless are victims of these techniques still in use by your friendly local mental health practitioner today. It’s big business. Your taxes pay for these atrocities. They purposefully create these human wrecks and then demand the money to “solve” the problem.
Kaczynski’s problem was that he couldn’t get laid. In response, he created an elaborate worldview to cast the blame for his personal failures on human society, rather than his own social ineptitude.
Wasn’t MK-Ultra research based on a Nazi/CIA mind meld...ugly stuff.

I think if you listed out prominent nutcases (Sirhan-Sirhan, Oswald, Manson) and then 3,000 ‘others’...you’d find a lot of problems with people 10, 20 and 30 years later.
I also think a lot of the ‘wonder’ drugs (Zoloft, Prozac, etc) eventually were delivered to companies from the experiments.
Ted went to Harvard University as a 16 year old. This is long ago, back when Harvard was a university worthy of respect, before the age of Woke-ness.
Did Ted Ks parent provide permission for him to enroll in that CIA styled testing program? That sounds like a rough experience for any young person, especially one who is a latent schizophrenic.
Pure LSD was not easy to get after the late 1960s, by 1970 or so LSD was going downhill in quality.
In high school I had a brilliant roommate who was about 10 years older than me, when he was younger he had participated in government LSD experiments as a subject.
