Shocking video has captured a mob of up to 40 teens viciously beating a trio of off-duty Marines who say they’d merely asked them to stop lighting fireworks on a California beach.
The now-viral footage shows the Marines — enjoying time off for Memorial Day weekend — being followed by the baying mob while walking toward San Clemente Pier Bowl late Friday.
“We told them we were Marines so they would leave — but they didn’t. They just kept going at it,” one of the attacked servicemen, Hunter Antonino, told KCAL News.
As they start walking up some steps, some in the group behind yell for them to “get the f–k outta here” — before one runs up from behind and sucker-punches the trailing serviceman.
After a brief hesitation, the Marine drops what’s in his hand and charges at his attacker, knocking him down.

IMO the whole kick em when they are down thing started after WWF wrestling became popular decades ago. They constantly show people being kicked while down in wrestling,
but it’s pretend!
In real life when you kick someone when they are down, you are risking killing them easily.
I believe that every attack where someone kicks someone when they are down should be prosecuted as attempted murder.

Unless the news source has verified the age of every one of these hoodlums the use of “TEEN” in the headline is, at best unverified, and most likely inaccurate (i.e. WRONG).
Why would a respectable news agency purposely mislead their public?

If we’re talking about today’s military, which we are, I am not so sure they could have taken out many of them like you suggest. This isn’t 40 years ago. This is the pansy woke military now. You need to recalibrate your impressions of modern military men and their ability to fight.
Next time they go, they will have a few more marines, and will demonstrate the bad form it is to attack them.

I will say, I admire the guts to physically charge into a hostile crowd of 40 people (what we have come to expect from Marines in certain situations) but it isn’t smart in a civilian setting...
I totally agree. 40 years ago the Marines I personally know would have had quite a few bruises and looked like they have been in a fight.
As a result, the vast majority of the mob would have been in the hospital unable to eat solid food for weeks or nursing broken bones.
Today, Not So Much.
In San Clemente & Oceanside? Not the usual suspects. We have bunches of 14-16-year-olds that roam the beach areas looking for trouble.
40-3 odds, but bet the guys get razed my their friends for covering up instead of stomping. Want to bet that this town gets lots of visiting Mari especially in the next week or two. Unless town is ruled off limits by the brass.

I've dealt with these groups of kids. They are drugged up, and logic is a stranger to them. The local cops won't do anything to stop them.
Simple solution; let the Marines carry concealed firearms.

Had something similar happen outside the gate at NRTC Great Lakes in the early 80s. Couple of young sailors were robbed and beaten in one of the bars. The CO authorized “Dungaree Liberty” the next night which means sailors were allowed to go on liberty in their working uniforms. It also implied they were allowed to take care of business. The street was flooded with sailors. Thousands of them, all looking to fight. I believe the local cops were called in to help everyone get back on base. Guess what? Not a single sailor was rousred or robbed after that for about a decade.
