Business leaders warn that New York City’s summer tourism season could become a hot mess if asylum seekers take over too many hotel rooms.
“I’m worried about summer tourism. We’re 30 to 45 days out from summer tourism internationally,” said Queens Chamber of Commerce president Tom Grech.
“My concern is that asylum seekers will take up space normally reserved for tourists. I’m concerned we’re going to lose tourists this summer. This is ridiculous.”
Even hotels in Queens near Kennedy and LaGuardia airports that typically serve tourists are sheltering migrants — at least temporarily.
Earlier Wednesday, Mayor Eric Adams reported that hotels contracted by the city to house migrants are filling up.

Well, New York is proudly a sanctuary city. So they should be happy to provide sanctuary.
Eric Adams is a good Democrat. Joe Biden is a good Democrat. Democrat policies of being so liberal in dealing with illegal aliens created this situation. Democrat mayors need to talk to their fellow Democrat president about all this.
Doesn’t change my travel plans a bit.
I wonder if all this bad publicity about illegal aliens swamping New York, could cause many potential tourists to stay away this summer? In which case they won’t have to worry about a shortage of hotel rooms.
Useless eaters have displaced the paying and productive.
They’re not asylum seekers, they’re benefit grabbers. If they were asylum seekers, they would have done that in Mexico that is an asylum country, also. And many of them walked clear through it to get to the US.

Ha ha Adams probably rues the day they made NYC a sanctuary city. Isn’t he trying to rescind that designation now?
I was planning to travel to Manhattan this August for a Japanese culture conference, my first time in NYC for almost 20 years. Back then I stayed in a hotel in Jamaica and rode the LIRR in, and wasn’t afraid of any trouble. Now, I wouldn’t take the E train or the LIRR, so I would have to pay up to stay near the UN, with the conference in that area. But since hotels there cancel reservations to take in “migrants,” it’s not worth the trouble; I will stay home or go elsewhere during the August break.
I hope the ILLEGAL ALIENS tip well.
I reckon I’ll go to Tampa instead.
Lol who would be dumb enough to go to that crap hold for vacation?
Bahahaha
Everybody needs to send a whole lot more Illegal Aliens then.
Even without the sanctuary city invaded by illegal aliens, why would anyone want nowadays to go to this filthy, crime ridden city?
I have a work trip planned in mid June for one night on Long Island. I just checked and there are no hotels available. But I found some campgrounds!

Side note to the NYC tourist family: Hide all your valuables. And take turns keeping watch at night. Or better yet, don’t go to NYC at all.
You give New York City what they want, and they cry about it. The Mayor who bragged about NY City being a sanctuary city is now whining about how all those illegals are effecting the city’s economy. Mr. Mayor, just look at them as tourists without any money to spend. You could even put some of them up at Gracie Mansion with the rest of your family. Democrats are supposed to be caring, right?
Should be housing the in those empty office buildings owned by the rich liberals that love illegals.
