DeSantis: GOP 'Must Reject the Culture of Losing,' No More 'Excuses'
News Max ^ | 5/14/2023 | Eric Mack

While echoing the policies and positions of former President Donald Trump, Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis took some veiled shots the runaway GOP primary polling leader – blasting Republicans as having been losers.

"We must reject the culture of losing that has infected our party in recent years. The time for excuses is over. We've got to demonstrate the courage to lead and the strength to win."

"If we make the 2024 election a referendum on Joe Biden and his failures, and if we provide a positive alternative for the future of this country, Republicans will win across the board," DeSantis said. "If we do not do that, if we get distracted, if we focus the election on the past or on other side issues, then I think the Democrats are going to beat us again, and I think it will be very difficult to recover from that defeat."

I have written to DeSantiss and to the FL GOP about this Gateway Pundit article asking if my Gov plans to disavow it. If he chooses to stay quiet, then its obvious he is controlled by the RINOS Bush wing and will NEVER again have my support or vote. I mean that with all my heart too. I will vote for liberal democrats before I will ever cast another vote for a RINO or a politician controlled by them.

—-> DeSantis would be something other than Florida’s governor if it wasn’t for Trump.

Likely he’d find yet one more government paycheck, since that’s all he’s done in his life.

As soon as the next Democrat becomes POTUS all Trump’s policies you described will be reversed on Day One.

Without legislation to gut some of those agencies then any changes are temporary and what are the odd of any Democratic or Republican Legislature will do that.

You need multiple things to happen to have any meaningful change in Washington, multiple Trump MAGA candidates in a row that actually win elections, combined with a cooperating legislature, without that combination of things any Trump changes will be temporary rather than long term.

The most long-term change Trump got thru was the Federal Court judges, as I mentioned in another response, he got those judges passed by having a Republican Senate that voted for them, otherwise there is no way Barrett, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh would get confirmed, not to mention all the other lower court judges.

Trump’s successes in Energy, Immigration, Regulations, and Foreign Policy were all wiped out in less than one year.

DeSantis has it all wrong. The GOP’s culture of losing is all self-inflicted … because the party has failed miserably to fulfill its campaign promises for years.

The party’s grassroots supporters have reduced themselves to nominating clowns for important races because they don’t trust the GOP political class anymore.

I point to the ObamaCare repeal debacle as Exhibit A in this regard. After promising for years to repeal that monstrosity they failed miserably when they had a chance to do so.

Easy to get things done when your party Has a majority in both State House.
On a National Level, not so easy with RINO members of Congress stabbing
you in the back constantly.

I would suggest, nothing is accomplished by legislation any more. Extra constitutional bureaucracies are responsible for governing, and the only reason McConnell was forceful on the courts is because he has no intention of legislating. If Trump goes into office and immediately fires all of the long term bureaucrats running these offices, he could have a long-term effect. If only by proving the bureaucracies are unnecessary when republicans resist his appointments.

Well, the “donor community” has managed to get DeSantis off the board permanently while making him think they really live him.

He would be removed in 48 hours.

DeSantis has a broader appeal, a great record, and has repeatedly demonstrated courage and creativity. He is worldly, well-read, well-spoken ....

Wow. This claptrap even has DeSanctus laughing!

If Trump did fire a bunch of bureaucrats, what are the chances of the Democrats getting a liberal judge to stop it which would tie it up in court for months if not longer, assuming Trump won the court case, the next Democratic President would simply reverse the firings by hiring replacements.

McConnell for all the roadblocks he put up for Trump’s agenda, he did good things with respect to Judges, imagine Merrick Garland as a Supreme Court Justice right now. McConnell for all his faults did stop Garland from a lifetime appointment as a Judge.

If the elections of President trend to illegitimate like 2020, MAGA voters aren’t going to wait for another election like they have been waiting since January 2021, led by Trump btw, to do.

It’d be Declaration of Independence 2.0 time...

Because if we’re honest, Banana Republics don’t vote their way out..

Great post. This is exactly why so many of us are wary of DeSantis. The GOPe is backing him financially and giving him the organizational help to take on Trump in the primaries. RDS is indebted to them, and does anyone think they will allow the governor to press forward with a MAGA-like agenda that is more populist on domestic policies and stressing lesser American intervention in world affairs and foreign conflicts? Hell no. The globalist bankers and CEO’s and the defense contractors don’t want MAGA period. RDS is a no vote for me in 2024 and beyond.

Which war did DeSantis fight in???

Excellent question, my good FRiend.

From Wiki...

During his military career, DeSantis has been awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Iraq Campaign Medal.

He was a JAG in a war zone.

I tend to agree with you about a Declaration of Independence 2.0, I hope it doesn’t go that way, but logically you can’t help but see that happening.

Agreed, so what is DeSantis' ballot harvesting plan?

“If we make the 2024 election a referendum on Joe Biden and his failures, and if we provide a positive alternative for the future of this country, Republicans will win across the board,”

except in the swing states with big urban machines, where they ballot harvest like mother-f@##$s, keep dead people on the rolls, and mess with the counting machines, making whatever putative victory might have been, evaporate, as was done in the past and assuredly will be done in the future, if nothing is done to counter it.
