DeSantis: GOP 'Must Reject the Culture of Losing,' No More 'Excuses'
News Max ^ | 5/14/2023 | Eric Mack

While echoing the policies and positions of former President Donald Trump, Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis took some veiled shots the runaway GOP primary polling leader – blasting Republicans as having been losers.

"We must reject the culture of losing that has infected our party in recent years. The time for excuses is over. We've got to demonstrate the courage to lead and the strength to win."

"If we make the 2024 election a referendum on Joe Biden and his failures, and if we provide a positive alternative for the future of this country, Republicans will win across the board," DeSantis said. "If we do not do that, if we get distracted, if we focus the election on the past or on other side issues, then I think the Democrats are going to beat us again, and I think it will be very difficult to recover from that defeat."

Those same bunch of RINOs are part of DeSantis’s campaign team now. If he ever became president, which is highly unlikely, it would be a repeat of the Bush presidencies. Oh goody!

Says the leftist living in denial.

What's the problem? That I merely voted for Trump, but don't join in cult-like worship for him?

Both Trump and DeSantis have done good, but both are flawed. Both are better than the Democrats. I will vote for whoever the Republicans nominate. But I'm not going to delude myself into thinking that either will "make America great again."

Our problems are deeper than political. They're cultural, religious, demographic, and macro-economic. Only a fervent, unapologetic, in-your-face return to Christ, by vast numbers of Americans, will turn this country around.

Don't expect any politician to do that. (No, I don't think God sent Trump, as some people seem to believe.)

We understand that. It’s the DeSantis folks who don’t quite get it. Each week he drops lower in the polls.

I prefer, rejecting the culture of electing losers who are only conservative during election cycles.

You spoke a HUGE TRUTH in that statement!

Doesn’t matter. People just don’t like a guy who runs for a job and then immediately starts running for another job. It’s smarmy and dishonest. Thiats why even the people of Florida are starting to give him the fisheye.

‘ Trump will have little to no long-term impact in Washington without an agreeable Republican Congress and Senate and that is doubtful, even then you would still need that type of situation in Washington for 2-3 more Presidents.’

———————————

Correct! Who has more power, Congress or President? Until Congress changes, nothing will change. Congress is not MAGA. Neither Trump or DeSantis will get any conservative MAGA legislation passed.

Stop focusing on the presidency and fix the Congress…..Neither Trump or DeSantis will be your savior. Voters think presidents can fix everything i.e. elections, states’ behaviors, deep state etc. THEY CANNOT! Only the voters can fix that by demanding their representatives do what they want. DC cannot/should not tell states what to do. This Trump/DeSantis argument is a distraction. Trump is a cheerleader and DeSantis is a controlled opportunist - neither can make Congress do the right thing. Use your time more wisely…..and your anger. Call your rep.

Garland might be less damaging as a single SC vote compared to the corruption he is unleashing at the DOJ and FBI right now.

DeSoros is anything but that.

A liar (”I’m not running”) but he is running.
A pitiful judge of personnel—a supposed knock on Trump, but DeSoros has people who have encouraged jailing the J6 protesters on the day Trump was “found guilty’ of a civil charge; someone who made the DeSoros campaign bus look like a case of Bud Light; paid shill twitter influencers who, based on what I read there, are rapidly turning EVERYONE into DeSoros haters; and someone who got a Prog lefty Soros guy to be one of his major donors.
A bobble-head who is described repeatedly to pollsters as “weird.”
A guy who so impressed the Euros they called him “low wattage.”

Nope, this turdstomper won’t even get Kasich level delegates. I predict under 400, and in 2016 I was dead on the delegate count even to the DAY on which Trump got the sufficient number as several Freepers will attest.

Certainly he doesn’t mean the culture of losing as in Minion Romney or McTurd? Those “winners?”

A follow up to my previous post to you:

Now that I have read your many posts on this thread, spot on! I truly hope many digest what you are stating.

I wish there was less agitating and more debate on this platform. Thoughtful posts are either ignored or insulted.

The carnival barking here is useless.

The overturning of the Roe v. Wade decision is all you need to know to realize him being anywhere near the Supreme Court would have been catastrophic.

The vote was 6-3 to overturn, Roberts went along but wrote an opinion that he was not totally on board with the decision.

If Garland was on the court, the vote would have been 5-4 at that point, would Roberts have voted to overturn Roe ??

Based on his Obamacare decision, he would have voted 5-4 to keep Roe v. Wade IMO.

Hopefully, Garland will be gone in a couple of years, on the Supreme Court he’s there for 30 years probably causing an untold amount of damage.

I’m against this, Trump or no one mindset, turning this country around assuming it’s even possible is going to be a long dirty fight, we need any serious person who agrees.

If Trump is literally the only person who can turn the country around, then we’ve already failed, 4 years and 1 man is not enough to effect long term change.

I see no purpose trashing someone who at one time was nearly universally praised on FR.

Agreed with caveats.

Trump or no one mindset: it depends on the reasoning if it’s justifiable. If the nominee is a RINO, that’s a problem. My personal opinion, I don’t trust 99% of congress or candidates for presidency. I never voted before Trump for that reason. I trust Trump. I trusted DeSantis prior to his behavior during this election cycle. I trusted Crenshaw until he showed his true colors, and Gowdy and so many others, same story. I knew McCain and Romney were traitors. My focus is local elections and keeping Ohio red.

Trump cannot turn the country around nor can any one individual. A unified GOP party might, but ‘unified’ will not happen. Electing MAGA candidates might but will take decades. RNC is not looking for or supporting MAGA candidates. And the leader of the RNC is determined by 182 GOPe traitors. RNC is not MAGA.

Trump is unique in that he energized the base to get involved. Politicians prefer sheep. DeSantis nor Gaetz, Lake, Greene etc can do that. That is the underlying reason DC hates Trump, his cheerleading ability. When he’s gone, voters will go back to sleep and MAGA will change meaning until it’s totally whitewashed. Ex. Tea party.

Trump’s real power was engaged voters. That will end 2024 or 2028 and there is no replacement that has that cheerleading ability. I wish there was though….

Agreed,

I also fear that Trump can’t win without a united party, no other Republican can win without the MAGA voters.

I also fear that Trump can’t win the general election with just MAGA support, he has to have a united Republican party and gain new voters, Biden’s insane policies might be the best weapon Republicans have to gain new voters.

I’m not worried about a true RINO like Romney, Asa Hutchinson, Pence, etc. winning the nomination, without MAGA support they have no chance in getting the nomination, much less winning the general election.

In the end we need a united party, that can appeal to the middle of the road voter who is tired of the insane policies of Biden.

DeSantis is pointing out that Republicans shouldn’t be surprised they are losing when they spend far more time attacking each other rather than real enemies like Biden. Yet even on this thread people play out what he warns against with no selfawareness. If you want a reason why Republicans are such losers you don’t need byzantine conspiracy theories. Just turn the mirror on yourself spending all day making 100s of posts attacking fellow conservatives on a medium low traffic messageboard who’s heyday was in the 90s. While your rivals are shaking hands in the boardroom with CEOs and Presidents.
