Jack Teixeira: Leader of online group behind US military document leaks is national guardsman
Sky News ^ | Thursday 13 April 2023 | James Robinson

The leader of an online group behind suspected US military document leaks is national guardsman Jack Teixeira, officials have told NBC News.

Teixeira, 21, is said to have overseen a private online group, containing around 30 people, in which the leaked documents were shared.

He is a member of the intelligence wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, according to interviews and documents reviewed by The New York Times.

Officials told Sky News' US partner network, NBC News, that they have been on to him for some time and that an arrest is imminent.

While their accuracy has been questioned, the leaked documents appear to reveal potential vulnerabilities in Ukraine's defences, as well as the numbers of UK special forces allegedly active in the country.

Known as "OG" in the Discord chatroom, the suspect behind the leaks allegedly claimed to spend parts of his day inside a secure facility where phones were banned, according to a story published by the Washington Post.

Wait, you believe the same liars who said Trump colluded with Russia and that Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation? Wow…

An execution would reintroduce some adult seriousness to national security secrecy.

Inadvertently leaked documents that exposed the wrong side of his agenda? Whoda thunk? That is what you get for handing out TS clearances to unvetted homos.

The CIA operative who was providing information to the Soviets did so because he was bored. He wanted some excitement. I think a lot of people go into a job, like a cop for example, thinking it will be as exciting as a TV or movie story. Instead, they find the job mundane and boring. To spice it up, they start doing stupid things like copying information. Now, who the heck can you share it with?

I think a couple of simple psychological tests would weed out these people. But, if those tests weeded out more of one persuasion than another, it would be a racist, or sexist or whatever test and would be dropped. Also, people with a lower-than-average IQ should never be allowed near classified information.

Perhaps reading the article would be of a benefit to you before you lynch the young man. Believing anything coming from the Biden administration without further information is the sign of a fool.

How much do you want to bet that at least 15 of the members of the "online group" were paid informants who encouraged him to do it?

Exactly. Long term Air Guard family here. We are in very bad shape if a lowly, no stripe Guard troop has the ability to see and steal top secret info. Absolutely unbelievable!

Air Force ends up probably with two-hundred-odd airmen who get sent off to intel school yearly. Standard background check...usually easier with a 18-year old kid because no history much to review.

They drill the kid throughout the training school, and hype up what you can and can’t do security-wise.

I’ll just say from 1970s/1980s....people who went through the system...had a ‘burden’ on their back to obey regulations. Somewhere around 2000...you began to see people who didn’t see the ‘burden’ in the same way.

The military gamer crowd is in a special group by themselves, and you probably need a whole new view of their comprehension and ability to protect information.

Don’t be a fool, he put out secrets and should be executed.

If you have a problem with that you didn’t mention what it is.

I served six years in the US Air Force and then six in the Air Guard.

The Air Guard weekenders were easily 60% democrats. A lot of folks were in just for the college tuition.

I’ll never forget visiting my buddy in the Air Guard and a Captain saying he was going to vote for Jesse Jackson, hopefully, I changed his mind.

From my years, I don’t think you will find individuals with less-than-average IQ in military intel circles. Someone in the 1990s did a review of AF intel enlisted (typically E7 to E9)...from those with more than 15 years...around 50-percent had a bachelor’s degree, and near 95-percent had a Associates.

If anything, you have people who look at operations/gov’t policy and argue about stupidity. They want to make the case that they know ‘better’ (when they don’t see the entire landscape). This is especially true in the past twenty years.

You can write all the security regulations you want...but if ‘Johnny’ just doesn’t see the ‘burden’ on himself to obey them...it’s wasted effort.
