Right now judges are chosen by the lawyers’ union. And that union is as lefty as can be, and non elected.

Good grief!   They might as well bring back The Sanhedrin.   Come to think of it, at least The Sanhedrin were men of faith instead of Marxist nihilists.

I had never heard of Sanhedrin. Did some googling, and from I can gather it was a group of 71 self-appointed judges.

So you’re right - the equivalent of Sanhedrin today would be the ABA (American Bar Association) if it were allowed to appoint all the judges. And that’s basically what they have in Israel today.
