Houston police are searching for a man who followed and then robbed a woman shortly after she withdrew cash from a bank in Chinatown.
Nhung Truong, a 44-year-old mother of three from Vietnam, went to the Bank of America at 9875 Blackhawk Boulevard and withdrew a large amount of money for an upcoming trip before driving 24 miles to the 9800 block of Bellaire, where the robbery took place at around 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 13, according to reports.
In surveillance footage, Truong can be seen walking in front of a shopping center before a man approaches her and grabs her from behind, causing her to drop her belongings. The man then grabs what he thinks is an envelope of money before running off.
However, once he realizes that he snatched the wrong item, he returns and picks Truong up before slamming her to the ground. He then grabs the actual envelope of cash before fleeing the scene.
She is currently in a wheelchair as she is unable to walk or go to the bathroom on her own.
“It’s not a big loss of the money. The big loss is her leg,” Truong’s daughter, Linh Duong, told KHOU.
Truong, who is in rehab to learn how to walk, says she does not know when she will be able to walk again.
“I just need to practice, try to walk and stuff,” she said. “I’m very sad that this happened to me and I just want to let people know to be careful.”

Oh my yes! I particularly like the ones showing them ‘into hiking, hunting and fishing’ (I’m in MO so we have ads like that) and also the ones showing the happy nuclear family cavorting around in their new *insert type of vehicle here*.
I mean who knew that that strain of humanity so loves and cares about the things whitey does?
Before I retired, I would stand guard near my co-worker as he withdrew money from an outside ATM at BofA. I previously warned him about using an outside ATM, which I never use. So one day while walking during lunch, we saw a man counting his cash while a thief ran up beside him and snatched the cash out of his hand, gone in a few seconds. Only then did my co-worker allow me to stand guard as he withdrew money.
I didn’t see ATM mentioned in the FR excerpt or in the Yahoo story. I saw ‘withdrawal’ and ‘large amount’ (ATMs are typically limited on daily withdrawal amounts). Plus cash was in an envelope (she could have put it in there to be sure), but I didn’t see an ATM reference. Just odd that he would go back after realizing he got the wrong item, like he knew for sure that she had the money.
That's the problem. Even if you are careful, you still are a target if you are a woman, elderly or disabled. Cities have become lawless to the point where simply taking precautions aren't working anymore.

I think that you are correct re the robbed woman getting the money inside the bank.
If she did, someone probably tipped off/alerted the robber.
I’ve noticed that phenomenon as well. The media also make the photos blurry to protect the reparations crew.
Apparently in the SF Gay area, robbing people after they get cash is a common event.
Since the cash limit for an ATM customer is $300 not over $ $900, most cops don’t even bother unless the victim is injured.
So do I. I don’t play their stupid games. I don’t use all those screwed up pronouns either.
