A Russian officer fighting in the Donbas region of Ukraine released a defiant video saying that he and whatever was left of his decimated platoon were refusing to follow orders after being forced to attack settlements without any training.
The recording, which spread on Telegram channels this week, shed light on the purported chaos within the ranks of Vladimir Putin’s draftees mobilized in Ukraine.
In the brief video, a man in a baseball cap who introduces himself as a senior lieutenant stands in front of a group of about 10 soldiers assembled in a bare room with a single light bulb hanging overhead and reads a statement from a sheet of paper.
“We were herded to attack villages absolutely without any training,” he says, adding that conscripts in their 40s were forced to fight “without reconnaissance, without communications, without scouting, without anything.”
The Post could not independently verify the video’s authenticity, and it’s unclear when or where it was recorded.
According to the senior lieutenant, his platoon does not have any ties to the area in eastern Ukraine or maps to help the soldiers find their way.
“Generally speaking, it’s some complete bull—t,” the man says in frustration. “Personnel is dying. This is all that’s left of my platoon, of the entire company.”
The serviceman acting as the group’s spokesman explains that he had been mobilized for the territorial defense brigade in the Russian city of Belgorod near the Ukrainian border.

Is that really rare? For a unit to have suffered over 50% casualties to refuse further combat?
“ The large armored battles of 1943 [Russia] and 1973 [Arab-Israeli] were spent within 18 to 19 days. Tank elements were ground down to 40 percent of their [original] committed strength. Furthermore, combat exhaustion occurs in normal soldiers after 35 percent have become casualties and the combined impact of
unexpected events, physical exhaustion, and loss of comrade support creates stress beyond endurance.”1”
“forced to attack settlements without any training”
Well, I’m sure the UA would provide them some training, but it would be “training by fire”.
Looks totally legit to me. 🤣
I’m sure it’s not that rare. Just in most “modern” armies they wouldn’t want to let it get to that point. They’d be rotating people to the rear before that set in if possible. Troops with no morale are not exactly a great asset to have on the battlefield anyway.
All gaslight, all the time.
the internet and you tube are flooded with video and articles about the Russians getting their asses kicked, but every map I look at, (even military land.net pro Ukraine site)the Russians are gaining ground.....not losing ground. I call that winning, especially when they have a greater resource of manpower.
Just anyday now Russia will lose! Look out for tomorrow’s next propaganda meal.
Sure, they are gaining ground at the moment. But that doesn’t mean their troops and fighting capabilities are not also suffering along the way. They’re attacking fortified positions and attackers in such situations can expect a high rate of casualties for every foot of ground they want to take.
As for “winning”, that’s TBD.
Ok, how do we know these are REAL Russian conscripts and not propaganda actors?
not to mention that Russians in 1943 and Israelis in 1973 were fighting for their homes, land, and survival or their families and nation.
Russian forces have none of those to sustain their motivation in this phony-arse global cluster fark.
LOL!
You realize the pictures posted in the article were of Ukrainian troops ….in green-marked helmets?
A pretty egregious FAIL on this one!
Ukrainian troops wear green tape on their uniforms and helmets.
These photos are Ukrainian troops.
“Ok, how do we know these are REAL Russian conscripts and not propaganda actors?”
Yes, they might be some of Alex Jones’ much vaunted crisis actors. Out on loan to Vladimir Putin.
“The Post could not independently verify the video’s authenticity, and it’s unclear when or where it was recorded.”
How low what passes for “journalism” has sunk. I remember how all the TV news channels breathlessly reported Tweets from terrorists in Beghazi and Mizurata that turned out to be fake or the opposite of the truth. And the stupid stories of Gadaffi supplying Viagra to his soldiers so they they could rape all the more, reported as fact (finally it got so ridiculous the CIA issued a statement this was false).
Both sides have been putting out all kinds of fake propaganda videos and stories and photos from the beginning. Remember the heroes of Snake Island who refused to surrender to the Russian warship and got b!own away? Only they didn’t. They surrendered and were returned to Ukraine. How about the Ghost of Kiev? Who never existed? And the video game footage purporting to show heroic Ukrainian pilot in action ... only it was just video game footage. Bah.
Sorry, I believe precious little “news” coming out of this war. I remember the fake story of the babies ripped from incubators in Kuwait. I remember all the lies, lies, lies and distortions the media told about the wars in former Yugoslavia. And so on and on. Lots of real whoppers about Libya, too.
The mobilized talk about their conflicts with local "L/DPR" militias who don't consider them worthy of staying in the same positions. We will all die ----
Good morning TR and ping back! And FVP! (F Vlad Putin)
Good to see Roooksie armies infighting and squabbling.
