BRASILIA (Reuters) - The world cannot meet its climate goal to limit global temperature rise to 1.5 degree Celsius unless it protects the Amazon rainforest, climate envoy John Kerry said in Brazil on Tuesday while discussing possible U.S. funding for jungle conservation.

"The truth is that unless the Amazon is protected from those who would deforest it and who abuse it, we cannot keep the temperature to 1.5 degrees (Celsius)," Kerry said, referring to the climate target in the Paris Agreement.

Kerry said the U.S. Senate is considering a bill with $4.5 billion in funding for forest conservation, while the House of Representatives is studying a proposal with $9 billion.

But, Kerry said the administration "will have to fight" to get those proposals through Congress.

When is the American regime going to quit messing with what does not belong to us or them?

It’s simple, if you want to fix climate change have McDonald’s bring back Mayor McCheese, Grimace and The Hamburgler.

Assuming arguendo that man-made global warm exists and can be contained, why is it that we have to spend billions of dollars in the Amazon to undo the damage done by China even as we invest hundreds of billions of dollars in China that finance that damage?

The Amazon is not a Green House Gas sink its cracked up to be, according to AGW theory. All the Organic matter there eventually dies and releases Methane, which according to the true beleivers and their propaganda is 14X worse than C02 (its one of the reasons “gas stoves need to be banned).

Cutting Down the trees and turning them into nice houses would sequester the Carbon for hundreds of years.

If THEY push harder on people and places over which they have no direct control we will more quickly either see them fail … or expose themselves as the brutal bullys that they seem to want to be.

Deep in the Amazon jungle was the secret locale of the lucrative manufacture of drugs that sell to the world. Could very well be that this claim of being able to protect the rainforests is one more facade for getting in on the action.

"You white Americans make me sick! You waste food, oil, and everything else because you're so rich, and then you tell the rest of the world to save the rainforest because you like its pretty flowers."

So far that hasn’t happened. We can pray that people will wake up and throw them out. They are very sneaky and they never quit or take a break from their desire to bully, control, and dominate.

Of course that awful goal is easier when you can wrap the force of the US government around you.

Yet, these same assets have no problem destroying the rainforests of the Democratic Republic of Congo to rape the planet for the Cobalt needed for their China-profitting EV batteries

Maybe Kerry should speak with his colleagues at Stanford who just declared that we will surpass the 1.5*C limit no matter what we do! These morons think we’re stupid!

it’s none of John Kerry’s business what Brazil does with its forested land, any more than we should allow Brazil to tell us if we are allowed to cut our trees down (which we have done many times already and they grew back)

Well, now that the Brazilian election was fixed and the chosen candidate installed, it’s time to announce that the Amazon must be protected for the world’s climate goals so money can start flowing there (and back to the politicians who sent it there).
