Mobilizing half a million troops?
That will take months to do. And they will exhaust their inventory of everything leaving them very exposed across the globe.
This adds about 25-35% to the existing forces. Those forces are poorly equipped and poorly lead. Where are they going to get the officers and NCOs to lead them? Their junior officer ranks are devastated. Their “inventory” of successful, experienced NCOs is very low.
Adding half a million troops without adequate leadership or equipment is a nice receipe for revolution. They will literally kill off generations of their future.
In short…this is madness.
Russia is still stuck in the WW II mindset. You don’t win wars in the modern era just by handing hordes of untrained conscripts a rifle and few rounds of ammo and pointing them in the general direction of the enemy lines while yelling “Charge!” (Or the Russian equivalent). All you end up with cannon fodder for modern high-tech weaponry like guided ordnance and unmanned drones.
