Nearly every adult ICU bed in Oregon is occupied, driven by an uptick in respiratory viruses. Portland-area hospitals are operating at a “crisis” level for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic began. The dire picture has prompted state health officials to implore people to slap their masks on, once again, to protect against a triple threat of covid, flu and RSV as people travel and gather indoors this holiday season.
But like nearly every community confronting a third pandemic winter, the entreaty is just that — a plea. Not a mandate. Health officials in a state that was among the last to end an indoor mask requirement in March now characterize mandates as a distraction. Instead, they are counting on Americans to voluntarily don one of the most effective tools for avoiding sickness.

The Leftist Democrat Restaurant owners are already re-training their minimum wage workers to scream at customers to “Mask Up”
Yes, its a staffing shortage due to poor treatment of hospitals to their employees. And that is the reason why I will refuse to wear a mask. My state government better not enforce a mask mandate ( which I will not comply) when our legislature defeated a bill that would mandate safe nurse patient ratios prior to covid.
What are they going to do if you walk into an establishment in a liberal state unmasked. Call the police? The police won’t show up for a minor call. Right now, I can walk into a store , walk out with armloads of stolen goods, and nothing is going to happen to me. I can shoot up heroin, take meth , start campfires, pitch a tent , have sex in front of everyone all on city sidewalks, and nothing is going to happen to me.
I predict the main reason why government is afraid of mask mandates is because we see the hypocrisy, and will not comply.

Yeesh that’s expensive!! I’ve seen that before but didn’t realize you could buy it now (wasn’t released yet or something last time I saw it). I just irrigate with saline iodine solution.
Here in Southern Oregon the hospitals are full. Waiting times in the ER are often 8+ hours and there are people lined up in hallways waiting for a bed to empty.
I personally think it was because Asante fired hundreds of workers who refused to get vaccinated, thus causing a labor shortage.
Here in Southern Oregon it’s not Covid that is causing everyone to get sick, it’s the flu and RSV.
I’m sick, myself, with it, as are most of my sister’s co-workers, as well as dozens of people in my church. It’s just devastating this area.
Everyone by now knows that the gov is spreading this, masks don’t do anything, and all the news is lies. A government that has no credibility with it’s citizens is no government at all, but just a bunch of grifters and thieves stealing anything not securely bolted down.
Agreed let masking be optional & use the type of respirator used for spray painting not the cheap ass paper filter dust masks!

Greocery shopping Wed. I saw a few people wih masks - mostly older people - here in Western Pa.
And to all of the Freepers who pimped masks and mask mandates, never forget that you were a weapon of the State against your fellow Americans, and you should forever be ashamed.
