In an ethical society, the people responsible would be required to resign their positions, and they would be prosecuted civilly and criminally for their crimes, and if convicted, they would be sent to prison for lengthy periods of time. Now, you two can keep insisting that because Twitter or Facebook are private organizations, that the Government did not violate the First Amendment rights to citizens.
