This week, the NYC Mayor's Office posted a job listing for a "citywide director of rodent mitigation," or as a city hall spokesperson dubbed it, "a rat czar." The director, who will receive an annual salary between $120,000 and $170,000, will be expected to develop strategies, manage projects and lead teams against the city's rodents.
The role's listed requirements include a "background in urban planning" and a "virulent vehemence for vermin."
"The ideal candidate is highly motivated and somewhat bloodthirsty, determined to look at all solutions from various angles, including improving operational efficiency, data collection, technology innovation, trash management, and wholesale slaughter," the job posting added.

IF there was only a breed of dog that instinctually dives into dumpsters, tunnels and holes to kill rats! Perhaps mans best friend, the foundation of todays society, could take care of the problem as NYC did 200-100 years ago, let the rat dogs do what they do. I hear the dog union only wants 60k and all one can eat free kibble. Of course belly rubs will be taken as kickbacks.
The other problem is stop placing garbage in bags on the street nightly. That is fixed by the the totes everyone else uses.
I’ve seen those videos, Joseph Carter, The Mink Man, he uses trained minks and rat terriers, between the two they slay tons of rats

LOL! Exactly. Among the many things NYC has refused to do.
Rats are a big problem in NYC, especially now when it seems like street sanitation is at an all-time low.
I just hope they actually get somebody who knows something about it, isn’t mafia-connected, isn’t unqualified and hired because of race or imaginary gender, etc.
Terriers and ferrets should be on the hire list as well.
Also, they scurry along the sides of buildings that house restaurants. A lot of uneaten food gets tossed into the dumpsters in the back alleys there and rats are thick and heavy. Sometimes they get so fat that you can kick them with your shoe because they can't run away too fast. They sort of waddle.
Below is one of my favorite rat GIFs, this one is taking a slice of $1 pizza down into the subways, where there is an entire rat family awaiting their dinner.
This particular rat did a nice job because it's hard getting an entire slice of pizza before a homeless bum can get to it.
Terriers, especially Jack Russells. Rat killing machines. The little monsters live to kill vermin.
Pay the homeless to catch and eat them
