TRUMP VOWS TO RESTORE HONESTY, INTEGRITY TO U.S. ELECTIONS

President Donald J. Trump outlined his “National Greatness Agenda” for supporters at Mar-a-Lago Tuesday night as he announced the official launch of his 2024 presidential campaign. Notably, one of the key issues he highlighted was election integrity.

“We will do whatever it takes to bring back honesty, confidence, and trust in our elections,” Trump declared. “To eliminate cheating, I will immediately demand voter ID, same-day voting, and only paper ballots. … And we want all votes counted by election night.”

In the wake of last week’s midterm elections, concerns about election integrity are at an all-time high, as many Republicans fear that cheating may have affected the results.

Trump has been vocal about his belief that the election was “rigged,” calling for a new election in Arizona following several problems with the elections there.

In his Tuesday remarks, Trump said such failures are just one symptom of a nation in decline.

“Our country was great,” he said. “Our country’s not great anymore. Our country’s a laughingstock right now, but our country can be greater than it ever was before — by a lot.”

While noting that the road to recovery would not be easy, he held that the American people would prevail together.

“We will be attacked, we will be slandered, we will be persecuted … but we will not be intimidated,” he said. “We will persevere, we will stand tall in the storm, we will march forward into the torrent, and we, in the end, will win.”

Unconstitutional federal takeover of state sovereignty is NOT a good precedent. Trump needs a Constitutional Amendment for the feds to interfere with state elections including presidential elections.

Great unconstitutional federal push for “good” can easily turned into almost immediate overthrow of a Free America by a rogue unconstitutional federal government, once the wrong people, like now, are in power even for a short time.

Better is using the bully pulpit to influence states to stop the steal.

Agree!!

Hopefully he means to do this by backing candidates for state legislatures that will enforce integrity.

Given my druthers, I would prefer seeing Trump get the nomination over any other contender. I trust that if he gets back into the White House, he’s bringing a flamethrower to purge the Swamp. I will likely vote for him in the primaries, because I trust that he would be merciless in his cleansing of the FedGov. I don’t think DeSantis is a bad man. I like him a lot. I also worry that, because he’s a politician, he’s broke. They all rely on someone else’s money to get elected, and that means they owe favors to the rich and powerful. Trump has no such constraints. Can any Republican win the WH in 2024, or ever again, after what we have seen the past week? My Magic 8 Ball is not optimistic.

I am making a critical announcement this morning.

I am going to buy the winning Powerball ticket today.

Anyone who questions me is a treasonous leftist troll!

Constitutionally, all he has to do is limit it to Federal Elections.

He can demand all he wants. States have the last say in the matter.

The STATES, not the feds, are constitutionally in charge of the vote of each state.

What we DON’T need is unconstitutional federal interference in our decentralized state-by-state voting process. THAT will be the end of America as we know it.

WRONG!

The Constitution allows for the US Congress to set the voting rules where Federal Elections are concerned.

Nice demand there. Too bad you didn't change the election laws when you were President.

The federal government could have coerced the states to change their election laws through financial incentives. This was done in the past when highway funds were tied to states raising the drinking age.

He didn’t do anything about while he was in office before. I think he wouldn’t do anything about it a second time either.

Words, words, words...kind of like how he didn’t do anything while American cities were burning.

This election cheating can only be changed if we shoot and kill the cheaters.

Yup—the irony is that the businessman Trump would have fired the President Trump—for failing to achieve clearly stated objectives—including eliminating voter fraud and other political corruption.

I support the man and will vote him again. But elections are state issues as has been established by the courts.

If he wants to open Pandora’s Box and try to get the Fed’s to control them, the Democrats will be licking their chops. It’s been a thing for them since Biden got in office.

And giving the gist of the below article, if the math is right and the fact that Democrats either control too many states and/or that GOPe Republicans don’t seem to care as long as they’re getting paid, it ain’t looking good. Doubt we’ll ever have a Republican President again, short of some very drastic events happening and changing things.

https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1592309763811192832.html

Lake’s defeat means that the Arizona electoral system will continue to function as it has since 2020, and that Republicans will be unable to win any statewide election in the foreseeable future. The same is true of any state where such rules persist.

This is my estimation of the current electoral map as it stands. Whilst NV and GA are currently unwinnable, both have GOP governors who could - but may not - change this by 2024. Regardless, the Democrats have now guaranteed victory in 270 EVs worth of States.

"If he coulda he woulda last time"

Last time, he put Pence in charge of the Voter Fraud Commission. Pence spent all his time trying to research illegals, and he got push back from the states who refused to give him voting information due to privacy. Often because the states had voting privacy laws on the books.

And then Pence gave up. To my knowledge, they never looked at the machines or the certification process, which the Election Assistance commission was supposed to be certifying.

Nor did they look at the operational controls around election voting, and/or state compliance with good controls.

Trump needs to set up an Election integrity commission with every aspect of voting in it's sights.
