Russia deploys over 30 drones in two days - Zelensky

President Volodymyr Zelensky added that in total, Moscow had also carried out some 4,500 missile strikes and over 8,000 air raids.

Speaking from Kyiv and standing beside what appeared to be a downed Iranian Shahed drone, Mr Zelensky pledged to "clip the wings" of Moscow's air power.

Western officials believe Iran has supplied a large number of drones to Russia, but Moscow and Tehran deny it.

It comes as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called Russia's aggressive use of drones "appalling".

The top US diplomat accused Russian commanders of using the devices to "kill Ukrainian civilians and destroy the infrastructure they rely on for electricity, for water, for heat" during a visit to the Canadian capital Ottawa.

"Canada and the United States will keep working with our allies and partners to expose, to deter, and to counter Iran's provision of these weapons," Mr Blinken said.

In recent weeks, Russian attacks have targeted Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, damaging the country's electricity and water supply just as temperatures begin to drop.

Western countries say Iran is supplying its domestically developed drones to Moscow and that Iranian military experts are on the ground in Russian-occupied Crimea to provide technical support to pilots.

Russian attacks on Ukraine Soviet-era missiles

Kyiv has identified the drones used in some attacks on its infrastructure as Iranian Shahed-136 drones. They are known as "kamikaze" drones because they are destroyed in the attack - named after the Japanese fighter pilots who flew suicide missions in World War Two.

Ukraine says around 400 drones have already been used by Russia, from a total order of roughly 2,000 weapons.

"If... it becomes clear to us that Russia has used Iranian drones in the war against Ukraine, we will definitely not be indifferent about this issue," he added.

No way.
Russia has been out of drones, missiles and such since March.

Exactly these types of statements - uncritically reported by our media - are what convinces me that we are not being told "the truth". They get reported as though this tactic is somehow new and/or some type of criminal activity (the only crime would be the targeting of civilians).

NATO has used these tactics in the past, stating that the targeting of "Dual Use" facilities such as bridges, power stations, factories, water supplies and so forth was justified as they were also of use to the military.

IOW, it's okay when we do it, but a war crime if they do it.

It is a shame that none of our noble journalists in the west are willing to at least add context and balance to their reporting (not that the Russians are any better, but that is their problem).

“....and destroy the infrastructure they rely on for electricity, for water, for heat...”

From DoD’s Defense Technical Information Center:

“Strategic Attack of National Electrical Systems”
https://media.defense.gov/2017/Dec/29/2001861964/-1/-1/0/T_GRIFFITH_STRATEGIC_ATTACK.PDF

“The United States Air Force has long favored attacking electrical power systems. Electric power has been considered a critical target in every war since World War II...”

The West has a smug self righteous when it comes to killing civilians. There maybe countries who can castigate Russia, but the U.S isn’t one of them.

Praise Allah for the help given by the Iranians and Chechens to the Russians. Without their help Russia would surely be losing this war.

Well, they are Russians, and therefore it is a crime. At least that’s the Neocon position.

“Praise Allah for the help given by the Iranians and Chechens to the Russians.”

Of course Allah wouldn’t have been needed if we had stayed out of this war.

What is Ukraine going to do about it? Ukraine has no air defense and, thus, no chance of taking back lost territory or avoiding losing more territory if it doesn’t unconditionally surrender.

You are very simple. All you crave is Vlads + CCPs New World Order. Instead of Europe's NWO.
Clown, you prolly live outside America anyways.....

Well, they can always start WWIII and get in their bunkers. Great for world population reduction.

No, unlike you, I see the situation objectively because I don't have Russian Derangement Syndrome.

We have no national interest in Ukraine. It's outrageous we've spent $100 billion there and engaged in a sanction war that has fueled inflation.

Ukrainians are needlessly dying in war they can't win and will lose even more of their country if they don't surrender. That is why Donald Trump has called for a negotiated end to the war.

And, if you and your ilk disagree, GET THE HELL OUT OF CONSERVATIVE MOVEMENT AND REPUBLICAN PARTY and because a Democrat.

Clown, you are hardly objective. You are a major Putin arse kisser. And always have been. Do you live in America? I do.

I very much like Ukraine in this war. I am partisan on this. While you want the CCP+Putin version of a new world order. You like/worship Putin, so will not admit this.

Who sent at least, 60,000 Russians to their deaths in Ukraine? Your hero Putin did. Only Stalin hated Russians more. Sending them to gulags. But at least he had an excuse. That he was Georgian.

Sober up. Russia/USSR is a long term killing fields and a joke. The whole world is laughing at their drunken/vodka military performance in Ukraine. Putin is lucky that Iranian Muslims are helping him out. At extortionist high prices for drones and crappy old missiles, based on Soviet era designs.
