AP: How are mail-in and absentee ballots verified?

How are mail-in and absentee ballots verified?

Whether a state requires voters to request an absentee ballot or participates in universal mail-in voting, all ballots cast by mail or dropped off at a drop box are vetted to ensure their legitimacy.

Election officials log every mail ballot so voters cannot request more than one. Those ballots also are logged when they are returned, checked against registration records and, in many cases, voter signatures are on file to ensure the voter assigned to the ballot is the one who cast it.

Still, mail ballots are one of the most frequent targets of misinformation around voting, despite fraud being rare.

Different states have different ballot verification protocols. All states require a voter’s signature, while some states have additional precautions, like having bipartisan teams compare that signature to a signature on file, requiring the signature to be notarized or requiring a witness to sign.

Despite widespread claims of mail-in and absentee ballot fraud, the reality is it’s exceedingly rare. The Brennan Center for Justice in 2017 ranked the risk of ballot fraud at 0.00004% to 0.0009%, based on studies of past elections.

Meanwhile, a May 2022 Associated Press survey of states that allowed the use of drop boxes in the 2020 presidential election found no cases of fraud, vandalism or theft involving drop boxes that could have affected the results.

“All states require a voter’s signature”

Apparently not.

and then if the ballot fails any of those tests, Democrats run to a liberal judge to have the ballot counted anyway.

End of story.

They also are supposed to have a date they were signed. I guess that’s something that is being ignored by most the Banana Ballot Tallymen.

Short answer: They aren’t, if DemoRATs running the counting centers have anything to do with it.

In 2020 the percentage of mail-in ballots thrown out for various flaws dropped from about 4% to about 0.04% for some reason. I’m sure the lower rejection rate (read lower standards) had no impact on the election outcome anywhere.

The vote counter checks that the ballot is for the Democrat. If so, it’s deemed valid.

In our Primary here in Arizona... They handed me a regular ballot and did not even mention my outstanding mail in ballot... so I am not sure the process works.
I reported their error after the fact, we will see if it happens again in the general. I had my ballot with me just in case they tried to tell me I had already voted...
My wife had used the mail in ballot as a sample so she knew how she wanted to vote, but her ball point pen had bled through, so she showed hers to the pole workers to alert them to that problem and they voided hers out before giving her a new one. They would not let her take the voided ballot with her into the voting booth and made her transfer her votes over to a blank piece of paper. Then I overheard them talking among themselves about how important it was for them to void out the mail in ballot before giving her a new one and then I asked why the computer did not tell them I had one outstanding too. I had planned to just toss it in the trash when I got home. We both decided we are going to get off the permanent early voter list after this election.

BS meter pegged off the scale.

vote later on election day. secure your car and stuff. be a poll worker/certified poll watcher if you can. if you’re just observing, watch and report any kind of transfer of boxes without chain of custody. get to know all official persons there. notify lawyer or sheriff immediately of suspicious persons or activity. legally ‘intervene’ when necessary to stop bad actors, using usb drives. using electronic devices, etc. call get a TRO if necessary. if you’re certified, demand access to all rooms (counting/feeding ballot rooms) prepare ahead of time to call lawyers, candidates if necessary. keep, document, secure all materials mailed to you. legally photograph/document everything you can maybe with old style film camera. get others to vote/document with you.

advice: i would mark everything legibly but with individuality. eg use a blue pen. bubble in a bit over the line, etc. Make your signature if required individual and legible (slants, crossing, dots, letter sizes, etc.)

In DemocRAT-run counts, they don’t need no stinkin’ verification.

Easy.

In Florida you have to request an absentee ballot.

The ballot will be sent to your current address.

You must provide an ID and sign the ballot.

Must be turned in no later than 7pm election day.

Signatures are compared, verified.

oh and one other thing. show absolutely no fear in the polling place. stand firm in your rights, and act like you ‘own’ the place because as a citizen voter, you do.

Bull crap, AP just warming us up for the next big steal. And if the dems do pull it off they’ll immediately push legislation that criminalizes anyone who claims elections were stolen.
